Ugh. My oldest took my toddler outside to play in the snow this morning. They were out for quite a while - almost an hour! Came back in, had some hot cocoa, and my toddler passed out. She slept for like 3 hours! I knew something was up. She woke up with a fever of 103.7. Ugh. Thankfully, we've managed it with motrin and tepid baths all day and there's been no vomit so far. Poor thing...

I hope I didn't offend you or anyone else with my comment. I am just so cheap that I try not to ever pay more than 1.75/lb for meat (and that's in one of those "It's a special occasion" situations since my normal buy price is .99/lb or less!) *laugh* The 2.xx isn't a bad price at all - but the 8.XX was kind of shocking to me - especially something that's mail order! I think I'd Faint at 13.XX!! If I ever win the lottery (guess I should buy a ticket... lol) I think I will go to a butcher and buy all the expensive cuts of meat. Then I'll go to a seafood place and buy all the expensive fishy stuff. Then I'll find someone who knows how to cook it all so I don't ruin it the first time and pay them to make me the most expensive meal I've ever ate. Just because.

I've never had boars head meat. Hide

DH wants to go back on a no/low carb diet. We've gotten away from it - especially since our little darling made her appearance!

Until then, though, I'm a .99/lb or less kind of girl. *laugh*

Update on my brother
hug I'm sorry. I know chemo is very hard to go through and the diagnosis is very scary to deal with (had several family members with bad cancers.) Sending lots of prayers.

Quote from DealHog :
I remember you mentioning before that you were thinking about a modified schedule, but getting a lot of pressure otherwise.
We were going to start vax at 6 mos and do one at a time. Thankfully, our current doctor is understanding and a little more easy going when it comes to slow vax schedules. Family isn't, but that's fine. We just don't discuss it with them.

Quote from SLickCate :
Aren't those ocular migranes the weirdest thing? I think it was ank who was having one a few months ago.
They are very weird. And I hate them. I used to get the ones that seem like you are going through a tunnel and your vision gets spotty/snowy (like a tv station that went off-air), but now they've been these weird wavy/watery and bright lights kind of migraines with some weird numbness. Blech. None of it is fun and even when you know or suspect what it is, it is very disconcerting.

Quote from Tracy1106 :
I agree...the babbling, mocking, and eye contact all sound like definite positives! Keep an eye on it though...so hard being a parent sometimes. hug
Definitely hard being a parent.

I think I am going to tackle cleaning out the closet and my clothes drawers tonight.. They are both a mess.

And on the yard sale talk.. I seem to have a hard time these days with stockpiling yard sale stuff.. Either lack of good deals or lack of coupons.. I do have a growing collection of suave, but don't expect that to bring in $$ at a yard sale.
I had high hopes for that b2g1 secretEmbarrassment
Ugh. Still working on cleaning/sorting our closets and clothes.

Same here with stockpiling. Deals aren't great, coupons are marginal or go for outrageous amounts that make it hard to stockpile/profit from, and people just aren't buying like they used to buy.

Which supermarket do you have?

Are you sure that there aren't only bulls-eyes out there? laugh out loud Seriously, though, I need to make a better effort at shopping at Kmart from now on.

Yeah, I guess they were regional. Frown Grr. S'okay though. I'm sure to come across a couple somewhere!

Quote from love2beeamom :
would have been better with some mashed potatoes and pinto beans.. but, I still enjoyed it!
Oh man... I am sooooo wanting a good pinto bean, vidalia onion, and jiffy cornbread (yeah, I know it's yankee cornbread...) meal. NO ONE here will eat it though - just me. I may just have to make some in spite of them all.

Quote from dreemedayze :
hey all. We finally made it home
Glad you are home safe and sound.

Well... toddler is tucked in and hopefully now sleeping. Mavis is sleeping for now too. I am sitting here and slowly organizing (read that as digging out) my desk.

I need to shop big time... We're almost out of everything.

I don't drink coffee, but I've got to admit that I'm still tempted from all the talk here. Is that stupey or what?Insane
Another stupey thing is that our school district just announced that they won't make the call on snow day until tomorrow morning. That defeats the purpose of snow day (sleep in).

Sorry your little one is sick hug

What kind of meat do you get for .99/pound.. and where? I hardly ever find anything that cheap here.. except ground beef of course.. I can't even get chicken that cheap. I consider 1.79 - 1.99 for boneless a steal around here.
I am jealous!

I stalk Kroger's meat department for manager specials and try to make it to Food City for the markdowns too (but less often because they don't double q's). I also stalk our ST for meat markdowns. When there's a q out I buy the smallest packs I can find that qualify for the q.

Ground beef is typically .99/lb on sale (or when the .50 beef coupon is out I will buy the 1.99/lb pack or chub and get it for .99 after the q - I need to do better at making use of that q when it comes out 1-2 x a year!) and split chicken breasts go on sale for .99/lb quite often here. I've found that de-boning them is very very easy - especially the tyson ones. I usually just have to make a couple cuts with a sharp knife and yank the rib-bones off. I'm willing to do it though, but some folks would probably be grossed out. Whole chickens go on sale/manager special for .69/lb - same with turkeys. Pork is harder to get at that price, but we can't eat a lot of it anyways (super trigger for DH's gout) so I just keep an eye on it here and there. If it's been ages and I'm dying for a pork roast, I would consider paying up to about 1.69/lb for cheap pork - but only if I'm anticipating overage. We rarely eat beef also, but I do like to throw it in once in a while for a change from our usual chicken if I can get it cheap enough.

I should admit that I do sometimes buy a more expensive pack of meat when I'm trying to use up overage or something - especially at T. Sometimes DH requests ribs, so I do pay up to 1.99/lb for those. I try to anticipate when he'll be requesting that though (i.e. summer time barbecue) and stock up when I see 'em marked down. But even that is rare and I rarely buy meat without some kind of q or overage involved. I don't know why I have a thing against paying for meat. I begrudge the prices on the meats for some reason.

Mavis is sitting here blowing raspberries and chewing on her toes. Apparently, it's very hilarious as she bursts out in a big laugh ever-so-often. Either that or she thinks I'm funny looking. laugh out loud

You know what I wish I had. Creme de menthe and vanilla ice cream.

Does anyone know what tropicana runs at T? I need to figure out some shopping. Ugh.

I'm tempted to get one also, but we drink at least a pot per day. Either we'd slow down (which isn't a bad thing), or we'd go broke buying k-cups! lol

Speaking of those fancy machines, I think I'm buying one for my sister for her birthday next month. She really wants one and she totally drinks just 1 cup a day so I think it would be perfect for her. Plus she would NEVER buy one for herself.

99¢/lb won't buy hot dogs here consistently, so I Bowdown that you can find decent meat that cheap, consistently. You must have some deal Evil with a meat guy if he tells you when items are to be marked down.

I haven't tried the torani because I need to finish my ID SF Hazelnut stuff first that I stocked up thanks to Setsail. I've never seen torani at a regular store that I know of (you know, to just try it. . . even sample sizes would work for me to try it)

Work is closed again tomorrow. I'm sure the dr will be closed as well. Not feeling so great and I've been cold all day (I brought my little ceramic heater into the office, but I didn't realize I'd have it on all day) and I'm very rarely ever cold.

I lost a multi-quote. I need a PM HDD please.
