Hi all,

I started this thread for anyone who wants to come here for lite discussion, jokes, and just general discussion and fun.

Everyone is welcome!

I was thinking that maybe it would be helpful to keep the original thread to a bit more of a serious discussion of the clues and answers.

This would make the original thread more useful to those seeking serious information and clues without having to read through hundreds of extraneous messages.

So, I hope it catches on !

So pop a beer and pull up a chair and relax !

We're supposed to get 3-5 inches of the S word tonight and go back down below freezing again this week. I want spring!!!!!! I was stupid and ordered 25 strawberry plants last summer and now I have to build a bed for them before they start putting out new plants.Im going to take some decorative stones and create a strawberry fountain for them in the front yard. Dogs will eat them in the back. I had to plant my tomatoes in 10 gallon planters and put them on blocks so they wouldnt get them. They see the tomatoes and think "BALL???" Big Grin
Oh, I am so hoping you don't that much S-word tonight! We got less than in inch this afternoon, then it blew on out of here. Supposed to be back up in the 40's by Friday and through the weekend. I'll be crossing my fingers for you that it blows through fast & doesn't drop too much!

25 strawberry plants??!!!!! You're going to end up taking over the neighbors' yards too with that many! I had one on the patio, in a pot, that grew over the side and started new plants behind my garage....now there's a huge patch of 'em out there. Girls love going out every couple of days & checking for ripe ones.

The boxer loves strawberries. My grandmother used to have some in the back but they went wild. They still come up here and there but Zena eats them as soon as she finds them. Have to pick up the peaches when they fall too. Shes crazy!!!

I only make quilts when a niece or a nephew's wife has a baby. I transfer family pictures -- from both the maternal and paternal sides -- onto fabric then design a quilt around them. I write up an explanation for each picture and send it along with the quilt. The first one I made was supposed to be a crib size, but I had so many wonderful photos, it ended up big enough for a double bed. The rest have followed with the same size. I've transferred photos from the 1800's up to 2010. All the new mothers are thrilled with them, even if it's the second or third they've gotten. Most of them hang them on a wall in the baby's room.

I never "learned" how to quilt, I just read about a transfer medium for pictures and thought it sounded like a great way to welcome a new member to the family. I make up the pattern for the blocks and start sewing. Wonderful therapy work. If have some pictures of kids sitting on their quilts, but I'm not certain where I stashed them. If I come across any, I'll post them.
Oooohhh! You're family picture quilts sound lovely! Please post pics if you come across any.

A friend of mine sews, and together we made quilts for my girls for Christmas last year. The center squares were drawings my daughters did (they're both very artistic).
One was a photo transfer, and one was traced then filled in with fabric paint. They turned out to be very pretty, and very personalized.

My wife made a quilt for my MIL, about 25% of it was cross-stitch panels of cats, from what I can remember it took her over a year. My MIL won't use it, it's too nice. It sits on a bed in an unused bedroom. She doesn't even want to risk hanging it on a wall.

And she knows that if she ever needs to get rid of it, it comes right back to the wife. As with any of the other exceedingly detailed cross-stitch she's done for her or my parents too.

This is too funny!! My roomie comes upstairs with a box mailed to me about 8X12X12. No clue what was in it. It was a singe pair of scissors from my printer order the other day!! We both laughed so hard. Took out all the packing stuff, and was still hard to find the scissors! Nice scissors though, should have ordered more!!

Hey, if it's available on Amazon and if the GCs aren't canceled, and IF they'll stack, that's only $20 or less OOP...
