It has been THE longest day. I got up, went to Walgreens, then got my extra coupons, then hit Rite Aid. It was about time for my parents to get out of church, so I drove by and found out where they were eating lunch and joined them. Then, my mother and I went to Petsmart in Clarksville, back here to Walmart and now I just finished making us steak sandwiches. Bought a gerbil.

Picked the wrong day to go to Petsmart. The Humane Society was there having an adoption drive. I cried. A lot. I wanted to take them all home. BTW- they want $75 for a cat. Wow. That's a lot for a cat.

I do heart you. And I can't go when they have adoptions either. They want $100 to even $150 up here depending on who's running the thing.

There was this dog...she was spayed, but you could tell that she had had puppies before. She was a rather large dog, but it said she was housetrained and sat on command. People were just walking by her and she was just watching. It broke my heart. I couldn't take her home, but I really, really wished I could have. She was just being ignored. The Humane Society lady tried to make me feel better. She said at least she wasn't in a cage most of the time and lived with a foster family, so I guess that was a plus. I wanted her. I just couldn't handle having her with my dog.

.......and I heart you too.

We are going to take an older family friend to the local shelter this week looking for a dog like that. She is 75ish so doesn't want a puppy.

On the positive side, it covers their medical costs and, if there's anything extra, it goes to support the other pets. Some of the pets they have require thousands of dollars of medical care. (I'm sure you know this, but just wanted to put it out there in case anyone doesn't.)
I have a special place in my heart for no kill shelters and foster families.

I know, but wow. Dogs are one thing, but cats are a dime a dozen here. People have them for free all of the time and adoption fees that high make me worry that they'll get left behind. Frown Of course, what do I know?

Yeah, that's a good point.

Our kitties went for $100/cat and were adopted out within two weeks. Smilie Two were babies so I'm sure that helped, but one was a momma missing half of her fur. laugh out loud

Bye Have a good day!

You have a good day, too!
(I guess if spay/neuter is included, it's not that bad. I wasn't thinking about that.)
