cross post form WBR..
Called the power company to get a detailed billing. Power bill is $200 but I only actually used $141 so I wondered where the rest is coming from. $47.08 fuel charge. That's right, they are charging me almost $50 to come out and read my meter.

I'm not upset at the $200. For the first month and it being total electric in January, it's not bad, I just hate being raped with stupid charges. Up the general rates and get rid of these stupid trumped up charges.
No seriously...you liked it? I have a gc for Sephora (Since 1999...I get two emails a year from Sephora "Shannon you have a gc from Aunt Barbara that you still haven't used."
I like the bill pay idea, too.

Fuel adjustment or fuel recovery charges are based on the current month's cost of fuel to operate the power generation plants. FACs or FRCs vary from 1¢ - 5¢ per kWh. Because tariff rate schedules are set for the year, if fuel costs have decreased since the rate was set, the charge can appear as a credit on the bill. (also called fuel cost recovery)
Stupid CSR had no clue.
