A question for the moms of children with or who had tubes--- before they put the tubes in did they do a CAT scan? The crappy ENT I saw last month mentioned doing the tube thing (which I've been researching and doesn't seem like something they even do to adults)but he says before he determines a treatment he needs a CAT scan of my nose, sinuses and ears. I'm thinking he's full of BS and doesn't know what's wrong with me as I've never heard of any kid getting a scan. Oh and his two possible diagnoses are 1)chronic sinusitis or 2) blocked eustacian (sp?) tubes. The regular dr's guesses are a polyp in my sinuses or an abnormality inside a sinus that's collecting viruses/bacteria.
No, Jamie never had a CAT scan. He had hearing tests and lots of looking in the ears. And they did some sort of test where they could measure how much his eardrum vibrated when he heard something.

VQ has a lot of good information there.

And even though all that stuff may in fact be the issue, I'm not sure he actually answered how to set your default printer.

For recent versions of Windows, go the the Start Menu, Printers and Faxes or Devices and Printers or Something involving printers (it varies by OS). Then right click on the printer you want to set as the default, and select "Set as default printer".
Doh Thanks. laugh out loud

Buy the ear plgs from CVS that mold to the kid's ear. That's what we used so when the kid had slip ups, we were fine. Nothing got past those things. (They come in a pack of 10 maybe and we reused them for a while.)

Doh!

I had gotten the molded ear plugs from the audiologist 35~50 per ear...helps better then the foam cheapies...also got them for our son...he just had the last one fall out this fall.

They also work as hearing protection...if you work in the shop/power tools, go hunting, etc...they drop like 35 db's IIRC

Just chuck your computer and printer out the window.
Weirdly enough, it printed tonight. It just picks random times to print. Hate them. Coupons.com/bricks are evil.
I just need five minutes with your computer and your printer would be printing coupons and my name all night long!!

Speaking of a fortune - the surgery center charged my insurance $11,000 for BT's tubes. WTF??? They took $600/ear from them and $200 from me. I haven't gotten the anesthesiology bill yet. Annoyed Pisses me off that they think charging $11K is OK.
Those are some farking expensive tubes!!!

We see the ENT next week for his follow up. I think I'll ask - I am NOT missing the pool this summer because of his ears. He's supposed to be able to dunk just fine, but if it hurts that's not cool.

Thanks to all who answered about the CT scan. I thought it seemed like hooey. I don't have much of a problem with my ears except when a sinus infection gets super bad they clog up.my hearing is fine. I'd be more inclined to believe my ears are clogged by the excessive mucus my sinuses churn out.

I'll admit - I scanned the thread and missed it. Have you seen an ENT? They looked in BT's ears and said "Eewww... that's nasty." Crammed $11k tubes in his ears and he's a new kid.
