Hi all,

I started this thread for anyone who wants to come here for lite discussion, jokes, and just general discussion and fun.

Everyone is welcome!

I was thinking that maybe it would be helpful to keep the original thread to a bit more of a serious discussion of the clues and answers.

This would make the original thread more useful to those seeking serious information and clues without having to read through hundreds of extraneous messages.

So, I hope it catches on !

So pop a beer and pull up a chair and relax !

No problem what so ever!! Just an Alaskan thing in general. We used to be 2 hours difference from Pacific Time. Actually, Alaska had, I think, 3 time zones not too long ago. It was realized that when having to deal with the East Coast, there were not many hours in the day to do so. Finally our 'zones' were adjusted. Still, four hours difference from the East is kind of a pain.
I never realized nor thought about the Alaskan time difference. Good to know.

Four of us ordered at 12:01 AM on the 16th and none of us has received an email or a netbook. I called and received an order number on December 24 and that was the last I've heard about it.
That's a shame. I had ordered it when the new points came out changed my order and never got an email and they tried to deliver it last Friday and I stayed home for it and got it on Monday. When I called they said probably 12 weeks or so. They have no real system in shipping.

I was trying to get the guitars for my son. Did they email you that you won???
I never got that lighter from that other company (I forget who). Ordered that a long time ago.

When did you order the lighter? I ordered on 1/7 & haven't received mine either.
Seems like the people who did get them ordered weeks earlier than I did, so still hopeful it will show up.

Well, too late. I did what Samsung told me to do. Most of the space went to the C drive and a little to the D and cannot be undone. I was playing solitaire and the bottom right on the screen flashed saying something that it was using a high space game or something. The notice went away before I could read the whole thing? Just the solitaire that came with the games on the netbook. But it has Skype and I used that successfully. Guess I am a little afraid of this cute little thing.

I found this post in the Samsung Netbook forum [sammynetbook.com] for those interested...

"You can use Disk Management to do all of your partition resizing.. I used it to do mine. Just search "Partition" on the start menu to get to it. Very easy to use, Just delete D: & then right-click the C: drive & click "Extend Volume". I'll leave the rest up to you.. like I said, Very easy.

Just make sure not to delete the recovery partition!

OR, If you want to start over from scratch, you can try reinstalling the original image using Samsung Recovery Solution. Press F4 on boot and select "complete restore". It will basically ask you to set up everything like the very first time you turned on the computer (warning: it will wipe out EVERYTHING you may have saved/downloaded thus far). "

How is Ubuntu different thatn Windows? This is new to me. My son switched to Ubuntu also. He thinks the netbook was set up as a tracker.
Ubuntu is a kind of Linux, an operating system based on Unix. It's more secure and more configurable than Windows. And it's free open source software. If you ever want to try it just download it and burn a "live CD", you boot off of that and can try it without installing it to your hard drive. There are many different distributions (Ubuntu is one) and different variations such as which desktop and wind manager is used (gnome, kde, unity, etc). And adding programs is really easy as most are free and available to download with the package manager that is part of the distribution.

On the surface it's about as different from windows as say Mac OS X.

Until I found SD during OWTW, I never really did the freebie thing...but now, signing up for stuff all the time! Ended up writing everything down in a notebook so I can keep track of what I signed up for & when I receive them. Love getting free samples & coupons in the mail.

That's a good idea... I wish I had written things down.
I remember I ordered a free T-shirt from somewhere, and also some free flip-flops. I never have gotten either of those, but I have no idea now of where they were even ordered from.

So, with any luck, we should be receiving them in the next couple of weeks. I've heard they're pretty nice.

Oh, and thanks for the rep on one of the iPad sweeps I posted. Biggrin2 Gotcha' back...and now that I have over 500, when I rep they're worth 2 points...which I think is cool.

I would tell you where I find the sweeps I post...but it's a state secret....so I'd have to knock you off after telling you! LMAOLMAO j/k I just search for them while my girls are at school and at night after they go to bed.

When I first started posting contests I had quite a few long-time members of SD tell me that they like my posts, 'cuz they're something different. That makes me feel good when folks like the stuff I post. It's become kind of addicting....posted almost 300 in the last 30 days!
