Hi all,

I started this thread for anyone who wants to come here for lite discussion, jokes, and just general discussion and fun.

Everyone is welcome!

I was thinking that maybe it would be helpful to keep the original thread to a bit more of a serious discussion of the clues and answers.

This would make the original thread more useful to those seeking serious information and clues without having to read through hundreds of extraneous messages.

So, I hope it catches on !

So pop a beer and pull up a chair and relax !

arg -- 4 days of having the netbook, and already cleaning a virus off of it. The only place i could have gotten the damn thing is off of Intel's driver website.

what anti virus are you using that it did not see the virus, or did it and that's why you know you were attacked?? wow, so soon and never feel safe.

You can start all the debates you want, but they cannot begin before 8 AM on any morning. Got that? 8 AM. This new contest will NOT be allowed to throw my circadian rhythm for another loop. I want to be able to keep my eyes open during the day without having to resort to toothpicks propping up my eyelids. So remember, 8 AM starting time for all debating and not a second before. nodnod

I was using Microsoft Security Essentials, and it is generally very highly rated. However, the virus I got is the fake antivirus virus, defender.exe. It is notorious for getting around anti-virus programs, and very hard to get rid of. It also stops any programs from running on your computer. Luckily, I got in on the netbook and not my real computer, so I can reinstall everything without losing anything important. Plus, with only a few days using it, I don't have anything important on it yet.

Is that 8 AM Pacific, Mountain, Central or Eastern? Big Grin

Central here
Oh, but shesays lives in Cali, so your 8AM would be her 6AM...don't think she's going to like it if you start debating that early in the morning! Have you seen what shesays does to those who cross her? LMAOlaugh out loudLMAO

YES! I am sooooo ready for the new Marlboro contest!! woot
Timing for the next week will be difficult on it for me - heading to New Orleans Tues (WHY couldn't the Rally have been there NEXT week?). I'll probably carry my older netbook around with me at the fishing tournament (just spectating and grabbing swag), hopefully they'll have set up a hotspot if there aren't already a bunch set up by N.O.

I need some advice and everyone here is really good whith different kinds of stuff. I have a Lexmark 2600 printer (Walmart special) I never would have bought it if I had known how difficult it would be! It prints and scans just fine as long as I wipe the cat hair off from time to time but now that I have a good camera it doesnt do photos very well.
I either want to print my own or have them done at walgreens or Walmart. Printing at home would be so much more convenient but Im not sure of the price. I would only be doing about 10 - 20 prints a month. I need something that I can refill the ink in the cartridges instead of buying new ones each time. Im leaning towards getting something that just prints pictures but Im not too knowledgeable about whats availible or what is the best and cheapest way to go. Any advice would be appreciated!!
Stupid spellcheck will only tell me I spell it wrong but not what its supossed to be!!!
With your specific needs and uses, you're better off just printing them at WAGs/CVS/Sams/Walmart/whatever. And they'll last a LOT longer than anything you can print at home for less than $0.50 each.

I have a photo inkjet I've never even hooked up. I print color on a color laser, and for any true pics, I go to CVS when they are free after Extra Bucks (when the photo books are FAEB, you can ask them to not assemble them, so you can have individual prints, though they have #s in the bottom corner, you can always trim the 4x6 to 3x5 or the 6x8 to 5x7/4x6).

I think I turn the color laser printer on at most once/month - I just don't have the need for any more, if a store won't take a B&W coupon printout, I just stop shopping there (so far, in my area, I haven't had to). But it sure is nice for clean, sharp printouts when needed.

Thanks. I have a CVS a couple of blocks away. I need a printer for my sisters business and Its going to cost me the same to buy a new printer thats easier to refill than to buy the new cartridges for the Lexmark. Ink is too precious to waste on photos!!! laugh out loud

You need to create a UBCD on your other system, either CD (if have have one for the netbook), ora USB version [ubcd4win.com], boot to it, and wipe Defender out. Set the netbook to boot to CD/USB, boot up UBCD, and clean up.

If it doesn't work, yeah, just wipe the system.

I'm running Avira Rescue System booted from CD on it right now, and it has found the virus -- its' taking its sweet time completing the scan though. In the meantime, I'll make a UBCD disk and have it ready to try next.
