When my DD had colic the only thing that I could do was vacuum to get her to stop crying. When I took her to the doctor the nurse told me about a tea made of herbs that I could add to her bottle. It really helped and led down the road to me feeding her low lactose formula with the tea in it and she was much better. Speaking of formula- I dare not even mention the word around here because the ladies would freak out. I plan in BFing but if this baby has the same problems as my DD then I will more easily switch. I am going to stock up with the formula checks just in case. I was at a group on Friday and every mom there uses cloth diapers and one was making the confession that with her 3rd she is going to switch to disposable and it was a bit scandalous. Smilie I am just not the Earth Mother that most people here are.
I'm not the most granola girl on the block either. I use disposables...my son is circumcised....and my kids are vaccinated. We did a delayed schedule with DS but he's caught up now and so are the girls. They all slept with me for a time but that was for varying reasons - never the "family bed" reason laugh out loud All that said, I have fought like hell for natural births and breast-fed babies and wouldn't you know it that after the first two, the last two wouldn't come out without a c/s and have been barely bf'd. Embarrassment Of course, nothing ever turns out like I planned so this is not a surprise exactly but it's funny how it works so easily for some people and they think it is that way for everyone.

Morning kids...Embarrassment

Went to bed just fine but from 4am on, lots of vomit
My body aches like I have been run over. Dh feels the same except his is coming out the other way. OMG

Too much info I know. Going to spend the day on the couch and see what happens.

I have 3 K's that I will not be using today. If anyone wants in the next few minutes or so let me know...
Oh no! hug Take care of yourself...and get some rest.

We've spent the day in gyms..off and on...watching a 5 year old's basketball game then an 8 year old's game and then went out tonight to watch a friend's boy (6th gr) play in a tournament game. Reminds of of "old" times with our son, spending all day in gyms.

Bought this [target.com] for # 2 today.
I have always loved stars, so I had my eye on this as it went on clearance. Been looking for snow boots for the kid this weekend and stumbled across this at one store for 75% off. Can't really beat quilt, sheet, and bumper for $13. Big Grin Hello Ida. It's not absolutely perfect, but it's good enough for me. Hopefully I can find some cute accent things with stars. The walls are tan, and we already have some chocolate accents from DD, so thinking I'll play up the reds, yellows, and greens. I think dark brown and bright colors will be cute.

did not find a big girl bed at ikea today. Well, not one I really liked for the price. We almost bought a really nice one at costco a few weeks ago, but I think we're going to settle on this [walmart.com] for now. We can set it up as 2 twins, one for each kid, or as bunks later on for DD when she's older. For now I think we'll just set up one and store the other until we need it. My question is, can we pull off white in a boys room? They have pine too, but we have natural ikea furniture and I think it might clash.

I think a white bed would work fine for a boys room. Especially the one in the link.

I have a question for you young moms. I've been hearing all over the news that they are no longer making drop side cribs. Were a lot of babies being injured by them? I have not heard of any injuries although I'm sure in all the years they were made there might have been some somewhere. I don't know how short people (such as myself or my girls) will do getting babies that aren't standing or pulling themselves up out of the crib without partially climbing into it to get them when you put the mattress on the lowest level. I'm only 5 ft tall (so is Sara and Lauren). I always dropped the mattress down when the babies would start rolling or start to sit up fearing that one day they would pull themselves up and fall out. I guess short people leave the mattress high now? I was so surprised that they were making a big deal out of taking drop side ones off the market when they have been around forever without a problem. John was so rough with our crib when he would wake up. He loved to jump and would hold on to the side and just jump and jump and I would hear the crib slamming into the wall and I would worry about the side giving way but it never did. I thought they were pretty safe. Oh well...things change I guess.

Here are some pics from the party showing how much fun the kids had with them. I tried to find a pic that had one up close so you can see how she made them. She also made some adorable costumes for the kids to wear out of muslin.

I know what you mean. There was a Moms group I tried to meet with when mine were just over a year old. Most moms had their little babies in with them (which I think is totally fine), but there was childcare available. It was only 90 min. When they get to the distracting age (babbling loud, throwing stuff off the tables, etc) I was just ready for them to put their kids in the childcare class! These were moms that had older kids in the childcare class. I was there to hear the speaker and chat with other moms - and take a BREAK from my three and not take care of other people's kids.

I know, I sound MEAN. Sorry. I know I am safe here. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE kids and I love babies. I'm not talking about putting your 1 week old in there, but your 2 year old.

They also tried to tell me I could have BF longer if I had tried (I pumped for 2 months, and they never latched because they were preemies and I had never done it before to be able to push through it).

They also told me it would be better to use cloth diapers. That the cost up front was worth it. Well, we were living on student loans while DH was getting his PhD and NO income... so HOW CAN I AFFORD THE COST UP FRONT??? Thankfully I stocked up on the WAGs double dipping deal (twice) and from about 18 months until they were potty trained, that is all we had to use!!!

Sorry, it was a bit of a sore subject for me since I felt I was being judged. I think we all have been there Wink

Both of you need to stop feeling badly and defending yourselves.I BF'd my first for six weeks and at her six week check up, she had lost a dangerous amount of weight. I was ordred to switch to Enfamil immediately. I produced very weak milk. The next two, I didn't even try. As you all have seen, they grew into healthy happy adults and you can't tell they were bottle babies. I was so down on myself that I cried a river until I accepted it for what it was. No, I was not earth-mother but they grew to be healthy, happy responsible adults and I believe they truly love me. Diapers and breatfeeding is the LEAST important thing you will do for your children. Tell them you love them every day. Tell them they are beautiful everyday. Make everyday an adventure and make them your priority after your husband. This is what is most important.hearthughearthug

Normally I have a wealth of built up hate because of the Steeler fans I meet in the area. Some are normal and rational, but not the ones that are my in-laws.

But this year... I have a unreasonable about of disgust about the quarterback situation. It is all quite disturbing.
