RETIRED: **CHAT THREAD** Shutterfly and others - New Codes and Other Coupons

We had a pretty tough day today. Many of you who have been around this thread for a while know about my cousin Melanie who has CF. 3 years ago she miraculously underwent a double lung transplant. Even more miraculously, it was her second one. She has beaten all the odds and pulled through so many times when she couldn't possibly have. Well, she had 2 pretty close calls over Christmas, and again pulled through. But today the doc's who have known her most of her life (and theirs, since she is 23) tell us her time is almost up. They are doing their best to keep her comfortable. We spent the afternoon at the hospital in ICU. She was in and out of consciousness but we think she's able to see who's there. It was so amazingly hard watching her struggle with her whole body for every breath. Tonight we pray for her parents who will stay by her side. I can't imagine what it's like to watch your child suffer and know the end is so near. We will probably go back tomorrow, depending on if she makes it through the night. We just had to get our house cleaned up so if people want to spend the night, they can. The hospital is in Seattle and the rest of the family lives about 2 hours away. I'm a little bit numb right now.

I've been keeping up, just nothing interesting to say. I was also working the last few days and when ever I do 12s, it's all I can do to wash my hair. Was an interesting couple of days at work....can we say "tired of getting screwed"?

OMG!!! So we were just cleaning off Soph's old stroller so that we could get it ready for Lily. Shawn got all the cob/spider webs off of it (it was in our backyard) and cleaned off most of the dust. I was out there doing some finishing touches when I found a HUGE BLACK SPIDER!!! Shawn killed it and said it was a black widow! I decided we need a new stroller.....

I guess while I'm talking about my son, I should mention that he started college last week. It's been a little bit of a rough start as we both thought he was registered for his auto repair classes, but really wasn't. The woman had written down his schedule but he was supposed to lock them in online. So the day before class was supposed to start, I went online to pay for the classes and saw he wasn't registered. The classes were filled up so he has to start with 4 academics which I know is going to be extremely difficult for him. He was classified with a learning disability from 2nd grade thru 12th and now he's doing college without an iep. I'm really worried about that but this is so important. His sentancing is supposed to be 1/31 (I have heard this may change though) He's done wonderfully meeting all requirements and if they give him probation he will have to do whatever they require as far as weekly drug tests, meeting a probation officer and still go 2x a week to iop and the other 5 days to a na meeting. I know there will be a time that he is going to feel overwhelmed and that scares me. I just keep telling him how lucky he is to have this opportunity to go to college and get well and have a family that totally supports him. Everybody has offered him help as far as school. I just hope he can get thru this semester and then the next one get his auto repair classes that I know he would do great in. He would have had to take the academics anyway at the end of the program which would have been better for him since he would be settled into his new routine. He could definatly benefit from some prayers. Prayers that his sentencing goes well and he gets probation and prayers that he can successfully make it thru this semester with as little fustration as possible.

Dawn & Rach - I'm no mother earth either. I guess there are some crazy hormones and other things adoptive mothers could do to be able to BF an adopted infant. But, I was doing good to make it through the day without having to worry about if I was providing enough milk for a baby. I read once about all the steps an adoptive mother would have to take to BF and there was so much to do that I don't think you'd ever have time to even hold the baby because you'd be too busy taking hormones, drinking herbal potions and stimulating the breasts!!! Anyway, Snowy and others said the same things I think about the whole thing - your babies aren't going to remember if they wore cloth or disposable, if they drank out of a boob or a bottle they are going to remember that you loved them dearly. And in my opinion, if bottle feeding and using disposable diapers makes you stress out less as a mother then that is the best thing you can do for your babies. Less stress means a happier mommy!

It was kind of funny when I was collecting for Rach's baby, and the paypal is under his name, so he kept getting these emails saying he had cash. He was like, "Look at all this money we got!" I told him right away to step off that money, it wasn't his, it was a SD thing. Then he saw me getting the gift cards together and writing out the card, and he was amazed at how much you guys rocked. He couldn't believe that so many "strangers" around the country had gotten together to do something like that. That's what makes our group so awesome. I can honestly say that some of my best friends are on here, and I've only seen pictures of you!

I need to buy a lilac or pink slipcover for a huge, overstuffed chair and a half and matching huge, overstuffed ottoman (the ottoman alone is so big it could be used as a seat for two people) I have never bought a slipcover before, let alone one for such obscure furniture. Does anyone know where I can find these slipcovers? This is going to be my "late night nursing spot" in baby's room.

Melanie is in the arms of her loving Creator today. She is taken deeper breaths than she's ever had the chance to breathe in this lifetime and letting everyone in heaven celebrate what a miraculous life she's lived that has touched the hearts of so many. She passed away around noon surrounded by family. We weren't there today, but I'm so thankful we got to say our goodbyes yesterday and spend time with her parents. We'll miss her like crazy and my heart breaks for her parents and brother, but I am so comforted knowing that she's feeling better today than she ever has before. We're thankful that God gave us 23 years with her and for all the miracles He allowed us to see completed in her life. Okay, this is really hard, can't type more now. My report cards are due this week and I'm so far behind. Thank you for everyone for praying for her and her family. Please keep me in your prayers to as we try to find time to grieve in the stressful, crazy week we have ahead. Love you guys more than you know.
