Oh very funny, as if I have a Trader Joe's! I sure wish we did, I stop by when we travel west to Seattle. They are building one in Spokane which opens this spring, and that's only a few hours drive east for me, we go there much more often than Seattle. But a little too far for just produce. LMAO The mexican market often has them cheap, will have to look in their ad tomorrow.

We do have a few Asian markets here, I never thought of looking there. I've never gone in any of them, but might have to look them up and check it out, thanks for that reminder, I've seen chatter about cheaper produce at the small ethnic markets.

And everything bakes best when the oven is on!
i don't know why i thought you were in seattle proper, but i did. sorry! Smilie

Oh I forgot about this one, I loved it too. Of couse it's written by a local author and takes place in my geographical area, that's one reason I was drawn to read it. Mercy's garage is in my city, but the older, downtown part...LOL! And for accuracy sakes, Seattle is nowhere near the Tri-Cities, but I know most people associate Seattle as being Washington state!

I can't wait until the next book in the series is released. It's been delayed a few months, but River Marked is due for release on March 1st!
LOL that's something that irritates me every time we watch NCIS. They'll get a cup of coffee in Norfolk, on the way to the office in Navy Yard, near DC.

Except that the two areas are about 200 miles apart. I know, it's fiction and they can take liberties with the geographic info but it's kind of annoying. Embarrassment

Time for a field trip to SLickCate's city! I've never been to Washington state so in my head Seattle = Washington = Seattle. Thanks for the local info.

March 1st seems so far away but then when I think about it in terms of Drugstore ads (2/27-3/5) it doesn't seem like that much of a wait bounce

SLickCate, Scratchhead Seattle isn't in Washington state? What state would it be in then?

Granola bars- I came across this recipe while looking for a store brand that is peanut free. After making them, I won't buy ready made anymore. I only add chocolate chips, the Guittard brand. The semi sweet work better than milk chocolate.

Chewy Granola Bars
3 cups oats
1 cup flour
...1 t. baking soda
2 t. vanilla
2/3 cup butter, softened
½ cup honey
1/3 cup brown sugar
1 cup mini chocolate chips or M&Ms
Optional: raisins, dried fruit, sunflower seeds, chopped nuts
In a large bowl, combine oats, flour, and baking soda. In another bowl, combine vanilla, butter, honey, and brown sugar; add to oat mixture and stir until combined. Stir in the chocolate chips and pour into a lightly greased 9x13 pan. Lightly press mixture into the pan with the back of your spoon. Bake at 325 for 22 minutes or until lightly golden brown. Let cool for 10 minutes then cut into bars. Let bars cool completely in pan before removing or serving.
Those sound yummy! Must try them.

NCIS and Bones crack me up with their totally unrealistic logistics. Like getting from DC to WV in mere minutes to solve a case. laugh out loud But like TN said, only those of us in the area would know the difference...

glad to see i'm not alone. now i sabotage my stupidity - turn on oven first. put item in oven second. close door third. set timer fourth.
Yeah, well - here's the kicker. I had the oven on for the chicken. Took it out. Put the bread in and for some strange reason - turned the oven off. Yes. Turned it OFF. Doh

News on grandma:

She was talking gibberish most of yesterday but fell asleep/comatose in the late afternoon. She hasn't woken up since. Her breathing is very slow and even stops, then restarts - kind of like apnea. They are medicating her just in case there's any pain, but she gives no indication of being in pain at all or knowing what is going on. My MIL says, "her body is here and we are taking care of it, but Mom is not here. It's not her any longer."

aww hon, i am so sorry. hug
when a person is off dialysis, since there is no blood filtering going on, the toxins build up in the blood. that chemical build up results in delirium and eventually coma because it affects the brain. once the brain is affected, it impacts involuntary functions, like breathing, because the brain controls that. they're all signs of the body shutting down.

i am so very sorry. it is such a painful thing to watch some drift away, no matter how long they have lived. i am so deeply deeply deeply sorry for your DH and his family.

Well, I am not sure how much we got here. DH ended up home early as the call center closed and does not reopen until noon today. It's gonnna take him that long to move all of this snow around Teehee Opened both doors and almost couldn't get out between drifts and snow up to them but he is out now trying to take care of it.

Ank -- prayers for you guys! hug

i am sure it taste's yummy.. i used to make fruit & nut balls couple of years back..not anymore.. but your post reminds me to try some. I have this recipe noted, will try sometime soon..

This is that recipe, from a food blog,
"Use a food processor to grate the nuts into small pieces (not like a nut meal, but more like grated nuts). Add the dried fruits and optional ingredients give it a few more pulses. Make these into balls. Enjoy!

Nuts - almonds, pecans, walnuts work great. add cashew, pine nuts.. whatever works for you. I use a mix of whatever nuts I have at hand.

Dried fruits - Prunes, dates, raisins, figs, apricots, goji berries are great.. I try to add prunes and raisins to most of the fruit&nut balls I make.. as these help in holding it all together. Dates and figs are sometime dry, in that care, I break it into small pieces (using the food processor) and then add to the mix.

Optional ingredients - unsweetened dried coconut, sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, hemp hearts, cocoa powder, carob powder, cinnamon powder, nutmeg powder, cardamom etc

If I make a big batch, I grate nuts first and put that in the mixing bowl. The dried fruits go into the food processor next and then into the mixing bowl. Add optional ingredients. Mix well. Make the balls. You can also omit the nuts and use nut butter instead. Pulse the dried fruits, add the nut butter and optional ingredients and proceed as before.

If you like your balls to look fancy, roll them in cocoa powder or in dried finely shredded coconut.

I don't find the need to add a sweetener as the dried fruits are too sweet by themselves. But if you need, you can add honey."

wait...it's your birthday Tootsie? Didn't you just have a party bus birthday party? Scratchhead

Had 2 magnificent runs yesterday. Found some London Broil for $2.99/lb. Someone must have gotten sticker happy with the $3TQs...because all of the packages had them, so I got several packages for $0.38-$0.50 each Faint

Found $1 any Eucerin peelies on the big bottles...used on trial sizes.
Tons of $3 Biore hangtags...I really like the steam activator wash...I normally apply my jergens lotions right after using it Wink

Ank: I am thinking about you this morning. Grouphug

Thanks for the tip about chicken in the crock pot. I get totally grossed out touching chicken and well, any raw meat...will be doing that trick over the weekend. I think the only thing more skeevy is eggs. I heart eggs but if even a little bit of cooked or raw gets on the counter or floor, I feel that I have to sterilize and steam clean the entire kitchen... OMG

Anyone cooking for Super Bowl? We are going to a potluck party and DH is making mini Beef Wellingtons. yummy Puff pastry, steak (preferably filet, but most will do), portabello or cremini mushrooms and marsala wine for the sauce/roux inside. Each wellington is about 2 bites....Scrumptious!

Happy Birthday Ariel!!

Have a great day everyone. Stay warm all you with snow! We don't miss Michigan today...they got 16 inches last night and are expected to get another 8 today. shake head

Today when I pulled up this thread, I got the following message from my computer:

WTH? I haven't changed any settings, and I've been doing fine with SD. Did something change? What the hell is this file?
