It is supposed to be in the 40's here next week!!! Yahoo!
We're still under a wind chill advisory -- it's currently -20 -- but at least the actual temp just broke zero. We might see 30's next week but it's supposed to be windy too so that kind of negates the whole effect.

. Any suggestions on flooring?
How about just a couple area rugs for them to sit on and play then they could still run cars and stuff on the concrete.

Today my son is back in school. happy dance! woot! woot!

Now to get my daughter back in pre-k. Gotta go register her and do the hurry up and wait game AGAIN. Ugh. I hate MO schools and how they run things.

We are turning the finished part of the basement into the kids' play room. Any suggestions on flooring? Currently it's concrete. I don't want to put laminate/tile flooring. Carpet would be okay, but where to find cheap carpet that I know they will be ruining? I thought about those floor puzzle mat things but it would be expensive to cover the entire play area.
I would second the remnants or area rugs idea.....especially if you aren't sure yet if your basement gets any water at all?? This is what we did in our finished room downstairs (a remnant) and have been happy with it. It *looks* like real carpet except for it can be lifted up if needed. We got one a bit oversized and my dh cut it to size so it butts up to the walls like real carpet. It had attached pad too so we were good to go. Do you have Menards in MO?? It is another home improvement store up this direction and their prices are more reasonable than Home Depot or Lowes IMO.

Would someone please help me with the new DPCI method of locating items? I tried the instructions in the Wiki, but the address/link would not open, and the address bar did not have the numbers in it as the instructions indicated. I'm a bit confused! Thank you!

target?

LMAO

actually a few wks ago i did see a clearance sticker on a blue and white patterned area rug. maybe that section will be reset soon and has some clearance now just like sheets and towels just did.

i know people always say you can buy a remnant and even get the edges bound for not too much.

. I tried this one [trgt.me] and it worked. The first one on list didn't return any results and I tried several items that I would think they would have. How are eyes doing?

Dreeme -- old quilts are pretty handy too. Put an area rug in the sitting area or under a table if there is one. Then put a couple big thick old comforters down there to throw down on the floor to play on. When they aren't in use, fold them up. When they get too grungy they can be washed. We used to put down a blanket or sheet for kids to eat on. When they are done, fold it up, shake it outside, throw it in the wash.

Yeah, the basement doesn't take on water so that's a plus. (well, so far so good)

Thanks for all of the suggestions! I don't know if we have a Menards but I will find out. Smilie

Thanks! Good to know. Might actually make some tomorrow... maybe... if I get around to it... Oh Good Grief! I've just talked myself out of doing it! I've been cheating for a long time now and using Mrs Ream's frozen noodles, but homemade is always better.

I was out doing "errands" all day today! Took me 5 hours to go get the glucose test, get Soph's shots for K, lunch with dh, go to Walmart, VS, B&BW, Cinnabon (treat for Soph getting her shots, she shared Big Grin), and Safeway. I was supposed to go to RA today as well, but I was too damn tired!

Now I have 2 meatloaves in the oven and I am relaxing with a lil internet and an episode of Intervention. I hope the meatloaf turns out ok. I haven't made it in years and I didn't use a recipe at all, just from memory!
You make me tired. Yawn laugh out loud

Ok TCC friends. I think I'm going to try my hand at some cake pops. I've been wanting to ever since my kick a$$ SS sent me the bakerella book. So I found these on etsy. Linky [etsy.com]. I'm wondering, what do you think they made those butterflies out of? I think these would be cute for Easter, but I don't know if those are candies that I need to try to find or if you think they made them out of something. Thoughts?
I thought they were either from a mold (candy) or cut out of fondant. Doesn't cricut make some kind of cake decorating machine now? Maybe something like that.

No but I used my T visas on the southwest site and bought southwest gcs with them Smilie My total for 2 RT tickets to Phoenix was only $37.01 thanks to those visas Smilie

Not all the stores have them.. BUT they can be activated at any store.. unlike the visas... even if your store doesnt sell them! I have a TON! Let me know if you need some! Oh yeah, they were in the electronics near the Itunes and Facebook ones and two stores near me got them in November.. a friend of mine is a manager of Chilis and he said that Target and Chilis were working out some deal with them.. but there is also Applebees etc
You are a bleeping genius - it never occurred to me to get them from a different store. Wheee!

I used my T visas to buy Lowe's gc's when our water softener went out - I know they sell carpeting/flooring also. Remenants are a good idea but it takes a *lot* of remenants to cover a big basement floor. My dad runs a furniture/appliance/tv/flooring store and they will usually have tons on hand that they give away or charge a little bit each for when people ask. Try an independent flooring type place if you decide to go that route.

You do [menards.com]. Menards and Lowes is like it for around here. If you live near a big city there will probably be a Home Depot but otherwise, Lowes and Menards is it.

I just realized that they were talking about full sized remenants - I was thinking samples for some reason. Samples can be had for free/cheap, they are about the size of a rug you put in front of a door - remenants can be rather large and they usually are priced only a little cheaper than full sized carpeting. I've bought them as "miscuts" too from somewhere but can't remember where. Lowe's I think.

definitely check out a carpet store. Preferably one that advertises it as a discount carpet store. They all have remnants...we bought one for DS's room (hardwood flooring underneath) and had them cut it to exact size and you couldn't even tell it was a remnant.

ok all you photogs...I am having a real difficulty getting clear shots on MF when I am in sunny weather. All of my pics look foggy. Any suggestions? I did adjust the white balance for sunny... I am using a canon rebel.

Gator - my best advice: wait for an overcast day Rofl2 Yeah I know that doesn't help you much. Did you adjust the ISO down so the camera isn't taking in as much light? There should be a button on the back for that....mine ranges like 200-1600 ISO I think if I'm remembering correctly (it's a Rebel) and you want to have it set lower. Otherwise I try to move into a shadier area and use an external flash if needed to compensate because I'd rather manage that then full sunlight. I think full sun is by far the hardest thing to shoot in. I'd rather be indoors before full sun any day but overcast is easiest for me. Did not used to like overcast then learned about how wonderful it is and love it Smilie

Otherwise I shoot in RAW and then there's a whoooooole lot of Photoshop stuff you can do to correct some of that.
