I would second the remnants or area rugs idea.....especially if you aren't sure yet if your basement gets any water at all?? This is what we did in our finished room downstairs (a remnant) and have been happy with it. It *looks* like real carpet except for it can be lifted up if needed. We got one a bit oversized and my dh cut it to size so it butts up to the walls like real carpet. It had attached pad too so we were good to go. Do you have Menards in MO?? It is another home improvement store up this direction and their prices are more reasonable than Home Depot or Lowes IMO.
We have Menards in this area but DH HATES shopping there are they are complete idiots and not helpful at all. He price matches Menards at HD and uses Lowe's printable coupons.

ok all you photogs...I am having a real difficulty getting clear shots on MF when I am in sunny weather. All of my pics look foggy. Any suggestions? I did adjust the white balance for sunny... I am using a canon rebel.
um, i'm assuming mf = manual focus. ever since digital i've been using a point and shoot. i think i'm almost at the point where i want to go back to slr. not happy w/ the camera i have and tired of the delay between clicking the button and the photo being taken. i also like to take pictures from the car and those come out horrible now. i am totally clueless about digital slr and would love some recommendations for a midrange price camera.

try to make sure the sun is behind you/coming over your shoulder. if you shoot into the sun the picture will look foggy and your subject will be dark and probably out of focus. you can compensate somewhat by using flash. or shoot under a tree or some shady area. again, you can use fill flash. the worst time is at noon b/c the sun is directly overhead. the best time to shoot on sunny days is early in the morning. in the afternoon there can be lots of long shadows. may want to use flash then too.

also make sure your shutter speed is fast and your aperture is set small. f stop should be around 16 plus or minus one stop and speed should be around 250-500 depending on your lens. 1000+ on a really sunny day. if you are shooting moving objects like kids, probably faster the better, but you may sacrifice depth. if your aperture is too big on a sunny day, i think it will look rather foggy also b/c the background won't be in focus.

this is all from when i used film but i'm assuming concepts are still the same and the laws of physics hasn't changed laugh out loud!

eta: i see from tm4d you can also set iso. on sunny days that should be around 100-200.

I want a new camera. The new Canon with the 35x optical zoom makes me drool. I don't like that they have changed from AA batteries to rechargeable lithium. The Sx20 is a 20x zoom and it does use AA's and with the newer one out, it's bound to drop in price. But there is that 35x zoom.... And I want a point and shoot. And I don't care what kind of video the damn thing takes. If I wanted to take video, I would buy a video camera. Yes, I am a video hater. To the point that if someone is running around a get together or function with a video camera running, I will leave.

For a very long time, that's all we had in ND. My DH would call them 'The 'Nards'. Very annoying that nobody there knows anything about their departments. A friend of mine dated one of their attorneys. Apparently it is very easy to hurt yourself there, and they settle out of court quickly without any investigation............

Teehee That is what my Home Depot is like....non-helpful. Our Menards is fairly good....of course I am one who usually knows what I want, I go in and get it and am done and would rather the employees don't bother me Big Grin Menards' stuff is usually lower-priced (Thrift I see you guys price-match, didn't know they did that) so I like that. Although I don't think they have maybe as good of a selection of some styles...example: our wall tile in our kitchen was from HD because it was the style we wanted.

I do like Menards lumber far, far better than HD or Lowes....I can get very nice standard grade there where as to get something nice at the other two I have to pay a higher price to get something more 'premium.'

We're supposed to go out of town tomorrow and monkey puppy is 24 hours into fever and coughing. A little bit ago, he coughed and threw up his dinner on me. Luckily, I was being cautious and gave him plain grits for dinner. *sigh* I need a good 10 hours tomorrow with no vomiting so we can get to our destination. He can throw up once we are there. shake head I'll just pack more clothes for him.

Be careful in the snow. It's snowing outside, but I can't leave for another hour (our timecards go in on Wednesday and mine is already submitted). Is Charleston/Savannah forecast for snow or just rain? I hate long distance rain driving. The windshield wipers put me to sleep after listening to them for hours.

Now to get my daughter back in pre-k. Gotta go register her and do the hurry up and wait game AGAIN. Ugh. I hate MO schools and how they run things.

We are turning the finished part of the basement into the kids' play room. Any suggestions on flooring? Currently it's concrete. I don't want to put laminate/tile flooring. Carpet would be okay, but where to find cheap carpet that I know they will be ruining? I thought about those floor puzzle mat things but it would be expensive to cover the entire play area.
I was thinking big remnants or miscuts too. That is where we find the best prices and with small bedrooms you can't tell when it is big enough to do the whole room.

OMG I was just looking at my My Days on my phone app and mine is the 15th with high fertility from the 10th to the 14th, ugh! Need to send my DH with yours. Man I wish my Mirena would have worked for me. Frown

Awe, poor lil guy, hope he feels better soon. I bet feeling sick he will sleep most of the trip. We have taken a trip or two when the kids get sick and they sleep more than usual, a few times waking up to puke though. Might want to put a few towels under car seat and around it. Also be prepared to take out car seat liner and have a few towels or blankets on hand in case you do need to take out the car seat liner and you are not there yet, you can pad the plastic car seat with those. Lots of wipes, extra water in case wipes are to dry and plastic bags to hold anything that needs washed once you get there.

Haha, I just spell checked and it wants dreem to be dramatize! lol! dreem the drama queen, lol.
