morning everyone!

Quote from megnsamsgrace :
THanks for the tips... the best hotel prices I found are around the airport... but maybe I should reconsider and stay outside the city?

One thing I realized with this relationship... is this is how a relationship SHOULD be... experiencing life TOGETHER... getting out there and actually LIVING....We have been to 4 movies the past month.. I dont think the ex and I saw 4 movies our entire marriage.. not because we didnt have the money or a babysitter but because he didnt want to do ANYTHING. I have been to many concerts, an NFL game... movies, gone bowling, played pool... tons of DIFFERENT things... road trips.. etc. Life is meant to be lived.. not just sitting home doing nothing EVERY freaking day. We make compromises on what we want to do or where we want to eat... it was always about my ex... where he wanted to eat, what he wanted to do... like my feelings never mattered. The past few months have really been a revelation about this. Like I was along for the ride.. not ON the ride itself. Sorry to ramble but a lot more stuff has become clear to me as I have a great guy by my side.
we've been doing a lot of traveling the last few yrs and dh has been doing all the hotel, car and airline booking. he said the cheapest hotels are always by the airport. i think it's b/c business travelers stay mon-fri and they are relatively empty on wknds so rates are lower.

it's fine w/ me b/c we only use the hotel to sleep. we almost never use the pool, gym, etc. we do try our best to find a hotel that includes breakfast b/c it saves time and money. he also did sign up for a loyalty program, i think marriott rewards, so you rack up points for a free hotel nite. they have many different levels of hotels w/in their program and many times their hotels are across from each other so there is a good selection. but you should just pick a hotel chain you like and stick to it. i think his friend does hilton b/c he's a consultant and that's the chain his company uses.

i think the only better location would be near a mall. many small cities shut down after 6-7 pm so not much to do and not many places to go eat. but if you are near a mall, there is shopping and more restaurant selection, movie theatres, etc.

this is an extreme example, but last yr we went to st louis and we were at that 7hr baseball game. we were exhausted and it was really late so just went back to the hotel. by that time it was around 11pm and we were absolutely starving so just ate at the houlihans right by the hotel. on the other side of the complex there just happened to be a target and i got my earth day bags and c9 hangtags that wk also Teehee! i think that was brentwood.

oh, yeah, it shouldn't be a problem by the airport but many times the hotel outside the city center is off the interstate. if it is, make sure to ask for a room on the quiet side of the hotel.

don't know what you like to do when you go away. franklin institute (science museum) is fun if the weather is bad. zoo is cute if the weather is good. maybe walk around the u penn campus. there should be funky restaurants and cafes in the area. a very long time ago when i went to independence hall, me and my friends took a carriage ride around the area. that could be nice if the weather is good. do not go to franklin mills vomit. outlet has really, really deteriorated.

i do day trips periodically to philly for shows, events, zoo, etc and i think you will have a good time.

let me know if you need any other suggestions.

ooh, wait, i think the philadelphia flower show is this wknd! yes, it starts sunday. if you are into flowers or gardening, this is the biggest flower show in the united states. it will probably be very crowded but has some amazing exhibits.

you should check to see if there are any other festivals, exhibits, shows, street fairs, etc going on. they can be lots of fun.

You can use expireds? Maalox, soon to be Crunchy Nut? The last thing I need is for coupons to come in the day they expire and RUN TO THE STORE.

Obviously GT has no children in her family as no one I know would put carpet in their bathroom.

I have Sketchup downloaded GT......and I hate it laugh out loud Started to use it to make plans for our dining table and was just cumbersome and buggy and well.......difficult! Ended up with a pencil and paper and that suited me just fine Smilie It will be awhile before we get to do our bathroom though Frown Rest of replacement windows and need to put a new roof on desperately. Those are next and then the fun stuff Big Grin I cannot BELIEVE how much we have saved on our heating bill compared to last year just with new windows in half of the house!! Between that savings and the tax credit and the rebate from the electric company the cost didn't end up being terrible either. Wish we could have afforded the up-front cost for all 11 of them last year rather than just the 4.

Nikayla - I am beginning to wonder if this coupon is regional --- I am still questing for some - I have found only a couple a number of magazines I have found don't have the coupon and most stores don't seem to carry many of the magazines --- luckily I have had some help for the amazing Shannon!!!!!!!!!!! Best of luck with the trades!!!!!

HUGS HUGS to all of you guys!!!!
It must be regional, haven't found a single $10 but most stores have already had magazines ransacked. I have not found a single baby talk mag either. Thanks, but I'm not feeling the luck at all on the amazon deal, I still have some hope though.
Quote from Thrifteh :
Ditto, I just saw that the ducky potty that I want to get JJ falls under the baby category and qualifies for the $10 off. I have not found one single $10 q in my area. :sa dwalk: But I have T GCs to trade :w oot:
Oh yeah, TGCs I have a few of those Teehee Hope you feel better soon.

Here is what I currently have stocked up for the new baby:
  • Newborn~ 216
  • Size 1~ 704
  • Size 2~ 708
  • Size 2/3~ 210
  • Size 3~ 1410
  • Size 4~ 1407
  • Size 5~ 887
  • Size 6~ 100
  • WIpes~ Not nearly enough! :l ol:
This is individual diaper counts, NOT boxes! :lo l:
This is a combo of the Amazon deals (current and back in fall) and from diaper deals at the local stores in combination with Qs. Actually most of it is NOT from Amazon, I have done quite a bit of stockpiling from this deal, but I have a good sized stash before they came along. :nod :
High Five Impressive!! Have fun swimming, that sounds wonderful.

The larger the diaper, the more $hit it can hold. Kinda reminds me of the deals thread... I think there are definitely some size 6s and 7s over there :cove rlaf:

Had a small run yesterday. Went to a new cashier that is ALWAYS working. Only had (2) Denim, (2) Ibuprofen, (2)oral care and (5) of the C9 hangtags. Knew it was going to be a long one when the cashier went into the drawer and put on her glasses. Finding out on a small run that a cashier is one to avoid is almost as good as STC with a jedi.

My OOP on the run was $1.60. : D
Nice! I agree, I had a reader last night too and a small run. I hadn't realized it was already the 1st so my Nature Made was exp Sadwalk So I had her take my vitamins off, so sad too, they were the last two double packs of those clearance vitamin D and calcuim, arg!

I think I am gonna brew some hot tea in a minute.. but, it just isn't the same Wink It will have to work this morning to get me through..

I am gonna make my oldest DD watch the toddler around noon time and I am gonna try for a nap. She owes me anyway.. I have spent more money on her the last week or so.. She has prom this Friday and her ticket was 25.00 and she borrowed a dress, but to have it dry cleaned and pressed was another 25.00. Now, she wants a new purse but I am not sure about that.. And, I *may* take her to get her hair done, but we may try to do it ourselves.. Some people just amaze me on what they spend for prom around here.. They will easily spend 100+ on a dress, buy new shoes, purse, etc.. Plus the girls will get nails done, pedicures, hair updos, and limo rides.. And the public school prom tickets are 60-75 each. I would say those parents are easily dropping atleast 400.00 for prom. A lady at church last year came over and did my daughters hair and she couldn't believe we didn't get the hair, makeup, and nails done somewhere.. whatever Roll Eyes (Sarcastic) she had a great time with her dress I got from ebay, borrowed shoes, and hair that we fixed at home laugh out loud
Prom is killing me this year. Frown It's DD's junior prom, and it's done up HUGE for the freaking town of 500 people I live in. Luckily, her BF's uncle owns a limo company, so they're getting the stretch Hummer for $15 apiece. This is the second year they've gotten the "good" limo...it's really ticking the upperclassmen off!

That's the end of the cheap as far as prom goes...she found a dress that she fell in love with - it's the one here [magicmomentsprom.com] . I think it's gorgeous, but the price made me want to vomit She's paying half of it with her saved money, but still...for a dress she'll wear once...gag. I told her she has to have her senior pics taken in it...possibly even get married in it for that price! laugh out loud

Luckily, the back laces up, so no need for alterations. And I told her if it was too long, she'll just have to get taller shoes!

Before DD could even ask me for a JB shirt or something I very much made it clear to her that we r not getting anything JB in this house at the moment...Princess/es OK, no JB...Maybe an Edward for mom but that's another story Roll

Gt had/has two kids. A boy and girl, grown now, but DD still lives at home. Way back when we did a little redecorating in our first house in the bathroom. I wanted it carpeted. Hubby didn't want to. It was an upstairs bathroom and he wanted vinyl so he could seal around the edges and have absolutely no chance of water leakage through the ceiling. I said fine, vinyl it, seal it, carpet over it. No go. Within a couple weeks our son, 2 or 3 at the time, got out of the tub, slipped on the vinyl and smashed his little face into the vanity. Next day right after he got off work, the carpet was laid.

I've always had carpet in the bathrooms and hated vinyl anytime we had it until we got carpet in. I've never had water or any other kind of problem. I hate to mop/scrub floors and would much rather vacuum and use a steam cleaner when needed.

I have carpet in my kitchen too. But oddly enough, I have wood parquet in the two upstairs bedrooms and little tiny hallway between with. It was here when we bought the house, I think it was put in when it was built. It looks fine and I don't mind it, so it stays.

If I am interpreting your meaning correctly, shall we just say poor aim? Yes, gross, disgusting and there is just absolutely no reason for it. What kind of disgusting creatures just pee all over their floors? Ewww. With DH it's never, ever been an issue. With the boy child he was shown how to do it right and it wasn't an issue with him either. I have never understood why that is a problem. I had a sister-in-law whose bathroom was so disgusting we wouldn't use it. (Not that we went there much) Her excuse was "well, she had two boys, what could you do?". Umm, teach them to go IN the toilet? And a little bleach wouldn't hurt anything either either.

Yeah, it does take some experimenting to learn it. I'm sure not an expert by any means, but I love the results and the price is right!

And as far as the coupons.. I usually order on ebay for most of mine. I like to order from lori site, but she doesn't ever have p&g, and her quantities available are so low. When I was trying to get the huggies bogo coupons, I could only get 10 from her and she was out of stock.. I had to order more from ebay.. But, they are definitely slower to ship.. Waiting on huggies and swiffer right now..
Check Goodwill for purses. I found 4 really cute ones there when I needed a little evening purse. They look new and cost less than $4 each.
