Is there any news on Hawaii and the west coast of the US/ South America? I haven't been able to look much since I am at work. Anyone have a link to live feed like we had during the last scare?

Horrifying images from Japan.

I hope all of you on the West Coast are o.k.. I'm worried about our friends in Hawaii too, like Hawiiandawn.

Yoko Ono posted this on her Twitter page for anyone looking for loved ones in Japan:

Stay safe kel_be and all the other Loungers in affected areas! I heard back from two colleagues in Japan that both are safe although they say the damage is horrific and they are without electricity or running water. Frown

I'm near Sacramento so we are going to be fine. The west coast will be at the peak of Low Tide when the surge is going to hit so I don't think it's going to be a big deal here.

The surge came through HI around 3a local time and the largest estimate wave/surge I heard on the news was 7 ft. It will hit N. America before S. America but I don't think it's going to be much. As I pointed out in the post above this we'll be at the peak of low tide at 8:30a PST.

Is it ironic that the episode of 30 Rock regarding natural disasters was on last night?

Hope everybody here is ok and safe.

Japanese police just reported finding 200-300 bodies Pray
There have been several reports across the shores of Japan saying there were 200 bodies washing ashore. So it may look like there is about at the minimum 600 casualties.

Yes it might not be big but with the poverty in these country it might be just enough to kill thousands. My family lives about 15 miles away from the beach in Guatemala and let me tell you if this thing hits, it's going to kill a lot of people.

LOL. I have a master's degree in Geology. I know what causes earthquakes homie, and it ain't the moon. It's called plate tectonics. Japan is on the edge of two plate boundaries, which makes it incredibly seismically active. It always has been, and will be for a long ass time.
