OCD Me!

Time to 'fess up...

We all have strange habits/superstitions/compulsions. Give it up--let's hear yours.

Here are a couple of mine. I have a strange distaste for odd numbers. If I can control something and I have a choice between even or odd--for example, my home theater receiver volume displays in digits--I will always choose an even number.

I also "write" phrases with my finger on any surface (the arm of my chair, the car door, my thigh) that I hear on the television, radio, etc. I alternate between cursive and print, and sometimes I try to keep up with whomever I'm copying. For example, if the news is on and the anchor says "a shocking double murder in the District this evening," I will be scribbling this phrase on the couch cushion to my right.

I've also practiced wiping my butt with my left hand in case my right hand gets cut off or mangled in some horrible accident.

I never buy the first two items in cold or frozen grocery section. Often when an item is left out they just return to it's section. Never know if they have been out for few minutes or hours, but has become an obession with me.Has to be item # 3 or after.laugh out loud

I am fortunatly not really OCD about anything (not to try to boast or anything), but my girlfriend seems to think that bleach is the best cleaner for things and gets pissed sometimes because I don't use it as much as she wants me to.

I started reading from the first page...and I got to page 5 and agreed with about 8 of the statements made LMAO this is great!

And I love reading one where I'm like, "OMG I really do do that!"



* I straighten items in stores, especially at the registers (ie pens, gum)
* If I go downstairs to the bathroom late at night, coming up the stairs I always have to look back behind me to make sure no one is following me (even when everyone is asleep) before going back into my room
* When I get into bed, I pull the covers up, roll over to the right to tuck a little under me, then the left, then lift up my legs to get it under my feet so I'm completely tucked into the blankets

OMG, I do this too. Also when buying a newspaper off the rack, I make sure I get the 3rd one down.

Ditto for me on the frozen items and the newspaper. But I settle for the second on newspapers, but it has to be at minimum third one in for frozen items.
I also never walk past my door at night without checking that both deadbolts are locked and I never walk away from my car in a parking garage without hitting the autolock at least three times to make sure that 12 year old rusty station wagon is really locked.

Mine:

I watch The Weather Channel at least 2 hours a day, every day, I feel like I don't know what is going on if I don't. I will leave it going when I'm on the internet just so I can hear it.

I count the stairs every time I go up to my apartment. There are always 16.

I don't like it when people put their sleeves/hair in their mouths. I can't take it and I have to walk away. It makes my teeth hurt and I flick my fingers.

When the power goes out, I usually pick up the remote and press numbers. 1, 2, 3, .. 9, 1 and 0, 1 and 1, 1 and 2, 1 and 3 .. etc.

I cannot wipe without looking at the toilet paper before throwing it in..

ok, I won't share any more.

EDIT.. I do the newspaper thing as well! I'm always afraid someone has taken the coupons out of the first two, so I pick one further down... I'm sure I look stupid when I do it.
