One of the other forums I go to has one of these threads and I've been turned on to some good movies that other regulars just watched. I was kind of surprised not to see a similar thread here (at least not that I could find.) Big Grin

I just rewatched "Kinamand" - a cute drama about a Danish plumber who gets involved in an arranged marriage with a Chinese illegal. Good stuff (Netflix instant.)

So what have you folks watched recently?

Hi there Saber! Hug2 I haven't been around that much and seem to be a random poster at best. How are things with you? I bet that baby girl is growing up fast. She is a cutie!

You and me both. . .was studying for a test. . .but now it's all over but the crying. DD is walking and will be talking up a storm any day now. I tend to miss her when I have to work.

Push - with the over-exposed still annoyingly precocious Dakota Fanning. The whole "we have special powers and need to save the world" type of story. Not good or bad.

The Girl Who Played with Fire - I thought this was a flick about a murder but it's like watching bad soft-core pr0n. Boooring. So over movies about women being raped. (More Deliverance and Pulp Fiction, please.)

I wondered if someone who hasn't read the trilogy would enjoy these movies. Did you see the first movie "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo"? Based on how much the movies were cut down, I can't imagine just watching this with no background information would be satisfying. I liked the movies enough, but I think only because I already had the complete story from the novels.

Have Buried from Netflix, might watch it late tonight.

Ok, just finished Buried, and what a depressing, suspenseful movie. Pretty much just one character and one location for the entire movie, not for the claustrophobic. I had to see it for myself, and it was alright to watch, but I wouldn't say I enjoyed it. Nor would I watch it again.

I just watched Capote and it was really good. Going to watch Infamous tonight and compare the two.

This week I've watched Winter's Bone, Dear Zachary, and Another Year. ( all watched online, inlcuding the Capote movie. ) All were really good, except for Another Year, which was one of the lamest movies I've ever watched.

What an upbeat couple of movies, eh? DZ was heartbreaking.

Last night I finished "The Last Detail'. It wasn't bad - it reminded me a little of "Midnight Run" - though not as goofy.

Also forgot to say that last weekend my gf and I watched an oldie, The Little Girl Who Lives Down the Lane ( Jodie Foster, Martin Sheen ) and The Bucket List ( Jack Nicholson, Morgan Freeman ). Both were good. I really loved Bucket List, though.

Please tell me The Fighter was not as bad as Buried. Because Buried was so horrible. It Was really a guy making phone calls in the coffin.

I was really looking forward to The Fighter too.

honestly, the fighter was a little better than buried. I wanted the fighter to be awesome, but it wasnt. It was so farkin boring. Just wait till you watch it.

honest to god marky mark is a horrible actor. i like the dude when he was on trumps golf challenge and he was decent in the shooter, but ever since the happening he's is f*ckin brain dead when it comes to acting.

I've able to catch that Jodie Foster movie twice on TCM while channel surfing late at night. And I agree with you, the movie was pretty good.

Yep, and it reminded me what a fine actor Martin Sheen was ( is ) so the next night I watched Sweet Hostage. Hadn't seen it in years and it was really good, too.
