Wife and I are going to be parents!

11,718 2,539 May 2, 2011 at 08:48 AM in News
While my wife isn't pregnant, we both strongly feel that adopting a newborn is the right choice for us(for atleast our first kid). We are in the process of getting our homestudy completed and getting all the paperwork in and getting a profile up for birthmothers to see.

We have considered the county foster to adopt, but as a first kid we really want a newborn and through the county it is rare to get newborns(from what they say). If we adopt a second or third kid later in life, we would probably go this route though. We just really want to get all the experiences of the stages of life.

Its exciting news...we are in the process of saving and raising money because adoptions through an agency cost a pretty penny... but we are feel its worth it... just wanted to share because i am excited Whee

we are very open on gender or race so the process should go quicker, we are also doing a domestic adoption as international adoptions require more legal work... now its time to set the room up for the homestudy and save save save... Whee

if anyone has adopted and have tips or good info...please share!

We signed on Friday with a company! Super excited! They are very hopeful for us because we are their "perfect" couple due our age, owning a home with dogs, and we are active. It doesn't sound like much but in the adoption world it isn't common. We might even get a kid by the end of the summer!Whee
So, how old are you, if I may ask? Because I am interested in that "perfect" and I am confident the age has a lot to do with it.

Congrats! My husband and I are also going through the adoption process right now. We are adopting internationally (Haiti) and we are about a year into it. They predict that it will take another year to year and a half to get our little girl home. We send her packages and got to visit her last year. Anyway... my biggest piece of advice is "have patience" Smilie Enjoy the adventure!

I am 28 and wife is 27. They say the best age is late 20s to early/mid 30s. Though you never know what the birthmother wants. Some may want a young active family, some may want an older established family....but late 20s early 30s is the most marketable age.

We were tempted to do international adoption but due to costs of traveling and the timeframe of getting off work would be tough. We live in southern CA and our company primarily deals with southern CA adoptions. Good luck with your process!!

we've been unofficially matched, we have a match meeting with the birth parents next thursday! They looked at our profile(a letter explaining who we are and a picture collage) and they chose us. Its all moving quickly and if this gets finalized we should have a baby boy by late september early october... now the hard part is finding the rest of the money...yikes....
