I live at the very end of a very rural-looking street. We're very close to a major thoroughfare but where I am, it's big properties & lots of trees. My front yard looks out directly on a high school soccer field that's bordered by a 1/4-mile running track. There's a huge fence & trees between me & the field but in one spot about 1/2-way up my road, there's a "gate" (just a break in the fence) that gives access to the track/field/etc.
HS kids use the gate to get through to a very narrow path between two lots that leads back into other neighborhoods. I also suspect they use it to skip school. Anyway, I went to run on the track today & on my way back I wound up about 100 yards behind a black kid who was, I think, confused about where he wanted to go. He came through the gate, turned toward my house & kept going past the path the kids usually take. Maybe he was sightseeing.
I was just going home, but I don't think he knew that. He kept looking over his shoulder at me, changing his pace, etc.
I'm sure he thought I was some redneck following him for nefarious purposes.
But today!! Today BT swam the whole length of the pool!
