You get used to it, I suppose. I've had lots of crazy schedules over the years; I just make sure that I keep my clocks set to 24-hour time so I know whether it's 6:00AM or 6:00PM. It's easier when the schedule only shifts a few hours a day instead of jumping more like 12 hours.

I'd like to go to sleep right now, but I still have a basement full of people (a friend of mine is having a movie party here). That'd probably be rude.

I suppose I could just leave them a note. Yawn

I think I had that exact keyboard in 1996.

Hey, it still works. I'm not typing on that particular one right now, but the keyboards I have on my desk are probably about the same vintage. Still have the Tektronix monitor, too--it'll display just about anything you throw at it, including lots of settings that will leave flat-panel displays just sitting there staring blankly.

I wasn't trying to make a joke, it truly looks like the keyboard on my first computer (more like '94-'94, 386sx). I wouldn't be surprised if the usable life on those was 50+ years.

Oh, no--I didn't think you were joking. I get new keyboards for everybody else, but I'm used to the old-style ones and don't have any urge to switch. I'd just as soon never have one with a curved, bulgy "wrist rest" stuck on the bottom...or, worse (shudder), one of those split "ergonomic" keyboards.

But I have my limits going the other way, too. I have no urge to go back to a teletype model 10. (You don't *have* to operate a Model 10's keys with a ball peen hammer, but sometimes it does seem like a reasonable option.)

So who else thinks keyboards should include "crumb trays" like toasters have?
