J'aime reached out to me months ago seeking advice on preparing both for the show and for the media that would come after the show. She shared with me how she had made some Target videos about a year ago that taught bad principles and that she was so embarrassed. She had removed them and been hated on by the couponing community. The way she told me, she'd repented and moved on ... I hadn't been aware of the videos, (but) after watching them now, I see why people were so upset.
J'aime called me at least two additional times, once, just to ask how I dealt with criticisms from the show (mind you, this was before the show aired, before I was aware of how she would shop). She again reiterated that she was being mistreated by those who recognized her from her early days "before she knew that the barcode decoding was wrong." I still cannot wrap my brain around what it appears she did on the show! I cannot reconcile the bubbly girl I spent hours counseling on the phone with what I saw on TV.
I published an interview with her, and two other extreme couponing contestants, and I have been largely vilified for doing so. Of course, I was unaware of her fraudulent practices when I posted it, but I defended her, to the extent that I said "J'aime shared with me that she made a terrible mistake a year ago and that she would never shop that way again". I ended up playing the fool, when the evidence came out and I did take down the post. I emailed J'aime and she quickly responded that she would formulate a response and send me her receipt, which she has never done. She is no longer responding to my emails.
It's so discouraging. It's one thing, whether you do or do not like the style or methods of the TLC show. It's another thing to … (make) couponers actually look criminal.
On the one hand, I understand how an outsider looks in on this problem and thinks all of us couponers are overreacting. But, especially for the other cast members of the show, it is extremely embarrassing and I am ashamed to be in a group with someone who (appears to be) breaking the law. If you wouldn't get in a newspaper recycle bin looking for coupons, I totally understand and respect that. I may be extreme. But, I'm not breaking the law. Plain and simple. J'aime told me how she works as a paralegal and how, at the time of her Target video debacle, she consulted the lawyers in her office about her susceptibility to prosecution for her error. She told me that they assured her she was safe and untouchable, legally speaking. I interpreted this to mean that J'aime did not have to fear prosecution for her "one-time-mistake." I now wonder if J'aime took their advice on a grander scale, not just in reference to her one-time video debauchery. I wonder if she believes that ... she cannot be legally prosecuted. The greatest concern is, of course, if she continues to teach her methods to classes in her community. One bad egg is bad. A few rotten dozen can really smell up the whole community, if you know what I mean!
I know I dont post alot... too much going on with the freaking divorce but I got some $hitty news last thursday and things are really hitting a rouch patch for me... Family Relations lied straight to my face and the custody is far from fair

Made some BBQ chicken in the crockpot all day.. cooked some mashed potatoes, corn, green beans, and rolls.. That is what the family had.. I just had a grilled hamburger patty and a nice big plate of green beans
I do still need to vacuum but DD worked 11 - 7 last night and is sleeping, I don't have to not do it, but I figure it won't kill me to wait til she is up.
