Thismom...can you have the doc test for sunflower or almond allergy? Apparently there are these types of nut butters you can substitute for peanut on PB&Js.

Lisa, great news on Trevor. High Five

Thanks ladies, wouldn't have thought of these shake head After we get past these two weeks making sure everything is fine I will have to look into and maybe try some of these. Doc only tested for peanut, egg, and citrus today since those seemed to be likely culprits. I must say it was interesting to watch all of the different ones together (previously with the blueberry it was harder for me to really 'get it' since they only had to test for that, not much to compare to) and the peanut react. Can't believe how pricey each one of those are though!! The more you add the pricier it gets! We have good insurance luckily but it is always interesting to get the statement from the insurance company on what they covered for these appts. Glad we have it.

Seems like a very typical fear but I've tried everything from emptying the closet, opening/closing/tying shut etc. and nothing is assuring DS that he's going to survive the night This has been going on for about 5 weeks now. Annoyed Tips? Please
Have you tried "Monster Spray"? We used a can of air freshener but you could do a spray bottle with water instead. I let my DD spray it in the general vicinity of her closet and then keep the can by her bed just in case she "needed" it later. We did this every night for about a month and eventually she got over it. Might be worth a try? At that age it is easier to play along than try to convince them that there is nothing to be afraid of.

I used to use a Monster Spray when I baby sat, only I put a little fragrance in the water, so it actually smelled like I was spraying something. Open the closet and couple of sprays, under the bed, behind the curtains, etc. Some kind of fragrance that helps with sleep is nice...Lullaby lavendar, etc...

Had a nice day at the park. Hot as middle-of-summer weather. Man, I am going to have to get over my fear of bees though. It is taking all my restraint to keep from diving on top of my kids when there is a bee around. It's embarrassing.

Is this your older or younger DS?

JJ is going through a stage where he screams everytime he goes down for nap and bedtime. This has been happening for at least 3 weeks now. Not sure if it's teething, a change due to new baby or if he's afraid of something. He was doing so well with going down without a peep...but still waking up severl times a night.

I haven't had 1 decent night's sleep in over 21 months. Faint

Noah's a piece of cake compared to JJ. I can lay him down when he's sleepy and he'll drift off unassisted. Poor JJ had to be rocked and walked and talked and shushed and swayed and still screamed bloody murder. Poor kiddo had a rough go of things.

Morning, everyone! Wave

Enjoying my cup of coffee - weather is gorgeous outside!! Lovely spring morning.

Yesterday was quite the day. Started off with hubby getting a flat tire on the way to work. Devastating to me because he felt sure we'd have to get a new tire and tires for his car are not cheap and have to be special ordered, blah blah blah. Plus it meant money I'd earned over the weekend would go towards THAT and NOT towards our vacation plans in June. shake head Not cool. Anyway, long story short, I locked my keys in the house on the way to pick up my son from school, so hubby had to leave work early to go pick him up (could only drive 50 mph on the spare...so took an hour). Then when we were leaving all together to go get lunch at Sam's Club, I locked a child in the house!!! Poor thing - I heard her crying and ran to unlock the door - she's standing there with tears running down her cheeks, saying, "Mommy, you forgot me!" Faint

Finally got off to lunch and found out that since the tire is so new, hubby can order the tire and when it comes in, they will prorate it and we will basically only pay the mounting fee. Whee Yay!!!!

Anyway, hoping today is much less eventful!!

And for the gardening, I have 5 tomato plants in containers and one basil plant. First year I have ever planted anything so I don't have very high expectations. laugh out loud

This is my older DS. He will be 4 in November. He slept 15 hours a day from the time he was 3 weeks old (12 hr at night and a nice 3 hr nap) until about 5 weeks ago. His teacher told us that he was no longer falling asleep during their rest time and pretty soon after that, he quit his nap cold turkey. Anyways. He started telling me that he was afraid of a mouse in his closet. I thought OK, it is possible that there IS a mouse in there...so I emptied the closet, unfolded and shook everything out and showed him. He seemed convinced but now he is telling me that there is a rhino in the closet Coverlaugh We were out of town this past weekend and the first thing he said when I put him in the room where he was sleeping was "I like this room, there is no closet in this room." OMG

I hope JJ gets back into his routine. I know a new baby is keeping his busy mind worrying and thinking at night. Comfort

Thanks! I have never heard of Monster spray. I am going to get a new spray bottle today and decorate it for DS while he is at school.

Planning a 6 mile bike ride this morning before it gets too hot. Last time I did this, I rode to publix, bought a gallon of milk and it wasn't so much fun riding back with that heavy thing in the basket. I wasn't thinking. Blush

Ok everybody, grab your calendar and mark this day. It's not raining. It's breezy but no high winds. The sun is shining. It is already 81 with a high of 90 predicted. Holy shit a nice day in northern Iowa. My house is shaded by a couple big maples trees (their itty bitty leaves just opened yesterday and Sunday) but it's already starting to warm up in here. I have the windows open but the air just might go on later today. woot

Ok, altogether now, "It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood, a neighborly day in the beautywood...."

Which one of you was the cheesesteak maker? The London Broil is still good so I sliced it very thinly and threw it in the crock pot with a couple cups of beef soup base and some pepper (black pepper the grindy kind, not the veggie). I'll throw the onions and pepper in a little later -- didn't want them to turn to complete mush. How do you do yours? Got a better way?

I'm not usually a big crock pot cooker -- more a crock pot keep it warm user -- but I want to go outside today and it seemed like this would work well while having the added benefit of being able to ignore it. I assure you, I will start playing with my flowers and forget everything else.

You look him right in the face and tell him that if he is a good boy all day long that closet monsters can't get him. If he's naughty, well, that wakes the monster and he comes out at night to feed.Big Grin

Tomatoes are easy. Just keep them watered but don't drown them. If you notice the ground is getting hard and dry around them or the leaves are getting droopy water slowly until it quits soaking in. Two or three times a week is usually enough if you aren't getting any rain unless you are having extremely high temps or high winds. If your plants start turning yellow, you are probably over watering.

Damn, talk about missing the forest for the trees. How the heck did you not see that rhino?

Well, I caved. The air is on. It's 11:15 and it's already 77 in here. I ran the steam cleaner over the whole kitchen and a couple spots in the living room... again. I did it yesterday and a couple of those spots were still pretty damp and I think it smelled musty in here and a spot or two felt funny. Not really sticky but weird. I don't know what the deal is. I used the Bissell that I bought at the used place. The cleaner appeared to work fine and the tank was spotless. Heck, it was cleaner than mine ever is! I don't use any kind of soap or cleaner so its not that. Oh, well, went over everything again with my Hoover and put just a cap full of vanilla (it's clear) in the tank. With the air on, it should dry up pretty quickly.

First load of laundry is folded, second is in the dryer, third is in the washer.

Quiet in here this morning. Everybody must be either outside or cleaning house! And outside is where I am headed pretty shortly.

I garden! Every year it's the same, garden is all nice and weeded and then August comes around and the weeds take over. I completely lose all ambition. Plus there is always a sneaky baby rabbit that seems to find a way in through the fence. I plant tomatos, sugar snap beans, pumpkins, and sometimes kohlrabi. Those are the only things that seem to do well. I've tried carrots but they never grow. I think you are supposed to plant them in sand or something. Watermelon - plants grow - but I never get any watermelons. Peppers don't ever get peppers either. The Wisconsin growing season is way too short! I do much better with my flower gardens.

DH does. We have tomatoes, bell peppers, okra and some kind of peas that grow on a vine. A neighbor gave him the seeds and not sure what they are called.
