If you have extra I'd gladly take them. We're on our last bottle of that stuff and Publix is due for a b1g1 sale anytime now.

On the brighter side, I did find out that my homeowners insurance is allowing up to $500 for each refrigerator and each freestanding freezer with no deductible, but you need an itemized list of what was in it... the curbside shop site for P made this easy.
Well that is some good news!!! woot

Do your Hy-Vee's carry Coffee Rich [richwhip.com]??

It is supposed to be 100% milk free. The store locator on their website says it is not carried anywhere around here but I KNOW I saw it in the frozen section at Hy-Vee the other day because I was purchasing something else and did a Huh what is that and looked to see what it was. So store indicator might not be 100% accurate. But if it is truly 100% milk-free I would think that and some of the Torani syrups or just that and sugar would make it better maybe. I cannot do coffee and milk Yuk I have become quite the coffee snob though....I am spoiled by my sugar-free Torani and cream thanks to TCC Stick Out Tongue
Thanks! I'll have to check it out. Does anyone know if T carries the Torani syrups?

Dpags, life without coffeemate is like Target without coupons...just plain gross! Roll

Since the baby is not getting my milk tonight, thinking aboutban adult beverege.

Ank, I never thought of donatring to a breastmilk bank. Doh Just because Noah is intolerant to my milk doesn't mean other babehs are!

ROFL @ it's pretty!

We do 2 things with it.

1. Use in on taco's (yes taco's were requested again, but I couldn't take a regular taco yet again, so since we are graced with being able to have fresh veggies...)

2. Use it as a dip with Tostito's scoops. Yum.

2 Mango's diced
3 jalapeno's (depending on how hot you like it, we choose to burn our mouth's off over here)
1 red onion diced
4 tsp of cilantro
2 tsp lime juice
salt and pepper.

I always let mine sit overnight.
bounce

we made a mango salsa/salad the other day, too:

mango, avocado, red onion, jalapeno, lime juice, salt.
you can also add black beans to it.
turns out drool

we eat mango salsa in soft taco shells rolled up or with home-made fajitas, or as a side dish with grilled shrimp, chicken or fish. drool or if you like something like swordfish kebobs with a tequila-lime-chipotle marinade, this would be a great thing on the side. i love swordfish but had to give up eating it cos of the uber high mercury content (doc's orders), but women of non-childbearing age, and men, are fine eating it.

if you get the riper mangos, so they're mushier/have more juice, it works well for us as a dip with chips.

the deck looks great you talented rabbit, you! Blowkiss

Truthfully, throwing away 2 refrigerators and a deep freeze worth of stuff has me Embarrassment and thinking that I shouldn't have had that much stuff in the house. I've been to the grocery (Publix naturally) once since the power came back on, but basically bought produce (and I'm out, so I have to do something this weekend)....

well the great stuff of having that stuff gone is that you can go forward with a new awareness of what you want to buy and how much, and now there's no obligation to have to finish all that you stockpiled. Big Grin

i remember when we'd bought kashi frozen entrees - a bunch of them in the freezer - and then it was this thing that we had to finish it, even if we wanted to pick healthier options. i love not having things in the freezer (we hardly ever buy any frozen pre-prepared meals any more) and allowing ourselves to go for the fresh options each time. it's exciting and liberating and best of all so much healthier (though i admit, it is harder work at the grocery store in terms of coupon shopping, but doable). i especially love it when the produce i buy finishes, cos it's exciting to go buy new things and think up new healthy meal ideas. (i'm a foodie, can't help it!). we've been eating such different meals constantly for the last many months all because of that.

but, totally awesome on getting reimbursed for the fridge/freezer contents. that's very nice of the home owner's association, and i know, atleast for me, would make me feel far better about starting over, and perhaps differently.

hug

so, a friend of mine had this issue with her kids. turns out most of the conventionally grown soy one finds in food products is a) high in pesticide residue b) GMO soy. and their allergist told them that the allergy might not be to the soy, but to the pesticides, or to the genetically modified aspects of the soy (it's designed to be resistant to certain pesticides/chemicals and responsive to others, so that farmers are forced to buy pesticides from the company that makes the seeds). at any rate, they tried organic soy products and organic milk (so free of hormones, pesticides etc and always nonGMO ) and had the problems go away.

not sure if there is any way they can test for whether Noah's allergies are to the soy/dairy or to the chemical contaminants/residues in there? maybe worth asking a good allergist if they can do a blood assay to verify that, cos it could make your eating life a lot easier.

sigh, the things these companies are doing to all of us.

hug for hassle, and an even bigger hug for the huge, loving investment of effort and sacrifice you are making for your babeh. heart

Gator, congrats on the job!

mama, belated Birthday wishes!

If anyone else was considering a stylus to use on the touch screen of an iPod/Android phone etc, I bought one at Target for 19.99 and then found a seller on eBay that has a similar one, 3/3.70 and free shipping. I waited until I received the order from eBay and it works just as well so the unopened stylus went back to Target. bounce

I bought some of the Jf hair color earlier this week and put it out in a sale this morning. Second person bought all 10 boxes at $5 each. Has anyone here used this, and how does well does it work?

Not sure about T....have never checked since all the ladies here have said Amazon is most economical buuuuut I do know that Bed, Bath, and Beyond has little bottles (not sure of oz.) for $1.99. They are WAY overpriced but it has been really nice for me to be able to 'sample' a flavor before spending $$ @ Amazon where you have to buy the larger quantity.

I think we need to have a Torani-worship day as well Smilie heart these, thanks to all here for the recommendations!!

morning!

then about a 2 hrs drive to a wake for a long time acquaintance who died of breast cancer. she was in her 40's w/ 3 kids so it will be very, very sad. have to remember to bring extra tissues. this is at least my 4th wake in 12 months and we missed one b/c we went away.

beautiful job!!! actually would look very nice w/ your veggies. i think you should plant lots of flowers on either side of the staircase. you can get a pack of marigold seeds and nasturtiums and a few more very quick, easy to grow flowers and you should have flowers in about 6 wks. nasturtiums are actually edible so if you grow any on your deck you can add the flowers to your salads for interesting color. they are very expensive in gourmet food stores. could be fun project for the kiddos.
Comfort
and on the flowers... I didn't know they were edible. My grandma used to grow those..

I guess I meant to say that my child's first thought with everything is how can I break this. He's not content just playing nicely with anything. Also, the more valuable & off limits the item the better.
I am sure he will be able to turn this talent into a great career someday... Wink

Quote from slowtech :
i'm sure you are not staying a wk there but just a warning to all that 7 days of the same breakfast offerings gets really monotonous. i told dh next time we stay at multiple hotels we need to stay at 2 different chains. 3 hotels in one wk and they all had just about the same thing for breakfast every single day!
laugh out loud I used to work as an Activity Director at a Nursing Home. When people were admitted, they asked them their food preferences. And that is what they got...forever...

Once I was helping the aides pass out breakfast trays and a guy asked me to get him some oatmeal. Of course, the kitchen had to tell me that his diet card said corn flakes.

They guy said "I told them I liked corn flakes. I didn't say I wanted to eat them every day for the rest of my life!!!!!"
