setsail did the mailman ever have something for you? I mailed it Tuesday morning... you don't live THAT far from here.

Mowing.... back yard and one side is done. Too hot (86). I'll wait until later this afternoon to see if I can tackle the front and other side (it better not rain!)

I can print again from coupons.com as well. They must have been updating and flubbed the update.

So... my FIL is meeting my boys for the first time this afternoon. OMG He and my MIL have been estranged for the last 7 years and are finally trying to reconcile. Anyways. I haven't seen him since before our wedding in 2005 and today he is down here in FL visiting. Sure wish I didn't have to run the reunion myself...it'd be nice to have DH around Annoyed

brought over from the WM thread...
Quote from ank220 :
Interesting article about returning with a gift receipt [cbsnews.com] at WM. Not really shocked here...
I've done a return at Target a long time ago for a friends wedding. I had the receipt which was 6 days old, it showed the price paid, no Qs used and they only gave me the item was currently selling for. Needless to say it was before I knew about this thread but I was very upset. How can they not give you back what you paid for it? This was not Christmas clearance... it was a Corningware French White set. The back of the receipt actually did say at that time that they don't have to give you the $$ you paid for it. I was Ranting but never did get my extra $7 back.

I didn't step foot in a Target for over 2 years after this.

Gator... at least he is trying to make connections... Life is too short to be angry at someone.

Family decided today they wanted brunch.
Made scrambled eggs, pan sauteed italian chicken sausages and buttermilk pancakes.
Made the pancakes from scratch using the Joy of Cooking recipe.
Oh.My.God.
I have never eaten buttermilk pancakes this light and fluffly, this flavorful, this delicious. I shall never eat a buttermilk pancake at a restaurant again. Oh.My.God.

Faint

Of course, along the way, I burned butter by putting it into a too-hot pan. No I mean CLARIFIED AND BURNED, SCORCHED and VAPORIZED in 3 seconds flat. Filled the house with ugh-ly smell and with lots of smoke which then set off the smoke alarm and required frantic waving of dishcloths to avoid inviting over the Fire Department (I hadn't made enough batter to feed a big fire crew).

And then I went to wash the pan Facepalm sending more smoky smell ughness all over the house and another round of said smoke detector (I thought that was the Rapture bell, come on over, but alas no). Washed pan to repeat butter routine sans burning, only to spill cold soapy water all over myself and the kitchen floor and the entire counter top.

Lovely.

Not sure where my brain is wandering today, but it doesn't hang around for long anywhere, making it hard to docus ... sigh, focus... on anything.

reee-donkulously annoying, i tell you.

well you already know the answer to this question now, just fyi, if you decide to do it, some people are not managing to get the telephone folks to apply the q now, unless they have a q number themselves. call it the sd effect...

gg, sorry the diagnoses don't sound very good but glad you got to see the dr and can move forward. hopefully w/ therapy much of it can be mitigated.

......
darn it! should have posted in the healthy thread. shoprite has santa cruz lemonade .99 this wk so free after doubled q. i already have at least 8 bottles in the pantry from last time it went on sale w/ coupons and rainchecks b/c they don't stock very much. didn't think of it b/c of course i am going on the last day!

sorry gg, wish you had shoprite by you. they actually can have very good deals on organic. strawberries are 2.49. if they don't have, i will get a raincheck for them.

do you know a reliable place to get the mambo sprout coupon booklet? they have good q's that are not online. some shoprites will have them but in very small quantities and i don't know where they put them in the store. once i found them on the counter where they sell cigars and lottery tickets. that's where i got the santa cruz q last time.
thank you for the good wishes sweetie. any progress is better than none, right?

a dear friend of mine lives just outside nyc and shops shoprite. but the girl has no patience with coupons because all she knows about qs is the stereotype of sitting hunched over the dining table cutting out 4-5 qs out of the paper to save 50 c each. Facepalm
she keeps saying she wants to learn from me. that will be an interesting teaching endeavour, since she always multiple kids in tow with her, is always multi-tasking and has a major case of mommy brain. oy!

good place to get mambo books - All co-op advantage stores (it's a national coalition of co-ops) get a mambo book. They call it the Co-op Advantage book. There's one in Brooklyn's Flatbush Neighborhood called, what else, The Flatbush Food Coop [flatbushfoodcoop.com]

Also, there are 3 other coops in the NYC area [flatbushfoodcoop.com] (one in Brooklyn, one in Manhattan, one in Pine Bush). These may have a version of the Mambo book also, but I'm not 100% sure, cos I don't they belong to a larger group of co-ops, and Mambo seems to work with large groups.

In addition there are some other stores that have em, but I don't know if they are branded as store qs or not, like WF does.
Wild by Nature stores
[wildnature.com]

Fairway Market carries them. [fairwaymarket.com]

Mrs. Greens Stores carries them.
[mrsgreens.com]

If you'd like to find more stores in your area, go to the mambo sprouts website, and on the top right click on 'Find Coupons' then enter your zip code and the radius you're searching. And you should find a list of stores sorted by distance.

I do this all. the. time. Roll

When I first got my stainless pans I used to burn the butter in the pan all the time too not realizing how hot they got, then I would go through that same exact process like you described Coverlaugh Too funny. And I can't make homemade pizza w/o setting off my smoke detectors......at least three times....in the process Big Grin

Too funny! That's exactly it!
I browned sausages in the pan then put em out onto a plate and figured ahhh, no need to wash the pan, it just has a little bit of browned stuff on it. I'll just add butter and make the pancakes. As soon as I put in the butter, swoooooooooooosh, swirl, smoke and blackness. Nuts! Never occurred to me that the stainless steel pan had gotten super hot while searing the sausages.

Add to it that I have a new range - we got it just a couple of weeks ago, so I still don't have a steady sense of how hot it gets at different dial positions. This one runs hotter on the stovetop than my older one. Facepalm

Same thing happens when we make pizza. As soon as I open the oven door, the smoke detector goes off cos it detects the heat changes. They should call it a cooking detector, not a smoke detector. If you cook, I shall sound an alarm! laugh out loud

That would make me mad too! I would kind of understand if you are returning a holiday/seasonal item (kind of), but I don't understand how they can do that to you otherwise.

I've burnt the butter in my new GreenPan from She Speaks, because that thing gets hotter than ever. I have it figured out pretty much now though, it's a nice pan. Just made over easy eggs for lunch in my cast iron skillet, they taste so good! Love the clean up, just swipe a paper towel around and all done.
