there are different varieties - some sweeter, some tarter, some crisper, some softer.
if you were closer, i'd send you some. cherries are one of our fav fruits in this house, and they have such a short season, it's a real treat!

When my niece was here I had her go through my overstock and start a giant pile. She was going to put it in 3 priority boxes at $15 each and ship it to herself. Even at $45 it would have been well worth it. Instead, I had her leave it and let me take time to pack it and compare shipping. I had a box that was 14 x 15 x 10 and weighed 33 lbs. It cost $23 to ship it and $2.30 to put $100 insurance on it. I compared FedEx, UPS, and USPS. They were within $1 of each other.

ETA: If I do that, do I have to buy the peel and stick shipping labels or can I just print it on paper and cover it with packing tape? I don't ship that many packages that I want to spend $9 on a pack of labels.

weighing - yeah a postal scale is useful for ounces. some Post Offices get pissy about having you weigh it and then using paypal. I've found USPS employees are under increasing stress about their jobs and so any company that offers a way to get postal labels/stamps is one they see as a threat. i've even gotten passive aggressive comments for weighing packages at one of those usps self-serve machines.
so, what i do: i take it to PO, get em to weigh it and give me a price estimate for the services i want, then i say, you know what, i'll think about it. avoids lectures, arguments, rudeness, especially when you have to keep going back there.
