There, that oughtta hold her for a while...Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)

My mom is coming up to visit today. Well, not just today, she lives 4+ hours away, so she is coming to stay a while. Don't know how long.

It has been quite hot here lately and now today is dark, gloomy, and raining. Figures, doesn't it, since Mom loves to use the pool -- which is one reason she tries to make it up in July. Wed. and Thurs. cloudy and mid 70's too but back to 90 Friday, so I guess it's not too bad.

Today I am whining. I have been looking for a new stove. I have a Jenn-Aire and have every damn attachment there is for it, I think. The grill is nice and does give stuff that cooked out flavor. I like the convection oven but it's too small. And I HATE the stove top. It's electric.

I found a stove last night on sale at Best Buy that meets all my requirements. Every single one of them. And it's $200 off putting it at $700. I am willing to spend that. I am not willing to spend $1,000+. I have a Best Buy an hour away. I can order it and go pick it up. And shop at the Target right down the street since I am there anyway...laugh out loud

I had myself convinced to call them this morning and see if they have one in stock. Website shows "ship to store 3 - 5 days". I would really like to see it before I commit. But I would still order it if need be as long as I could return it (not bring it home) if I didn't like it. (fat chance).

Soooo, we looked at the specs. The damn thing is a couple inches too tall -- that back part that sticks up, not the stove top. And here's the really fun part. So is every stove on the market. My stove is under a window, which I love, and the one I have now is perfect it slips just under the window sill. All the new ones are a couple inches taller.

So far the only one I have been able to find that isn't that tall is one of those really cheap, ugly ones that has none of the features I want. I looked at the .... slide in? I think they are called. They have no back sticking up. Great. Cheapest one I found so far looks nice but it has NONE of my requirements and it's $500 more than the one I want.

Could I move the stove? Sure. Right after I move a some cabinets (base and wall along with the crown moulding) -- mine are literally wall to wall, and replace part of the counter top since the stove opening would move.

I'm telling ya. I have one eye on that window sill and the other on a hack saw... laugh out loud

I gotta update my shopping list. I am so far behind. Gotta scan the deals thread and see what goodies I have been missing.

Why, thanks for asking! He had PT yesterday, and was sitting up! When they put him off-balance, he tried to correct himself, and was reaching for toys. I like to think they were the toys I sent him. Wink Sending my youngest out to see him (and the rest of the family) next week.

Yeah for like 5 minutes!

On the stove..what about a second hand one..is that a possibility?

Allow me to ask a really stupid question. What about the possibility of taking off the bottom of the window sill. The frame of the window sill usually comes out and up a little, if you were to remove just that part and shorten it up, could that work. So imagine you were looking at the window sill and you took off the bottom piece of molding, would that allow the space you need? They you could put a flat piece of wood over where the old molding was. Does any of this make sense?

Yeah for your momma coming..now I am going to fink on you!! You need to send her here to talk with me wootwoot

A second hand stove is not out of the question but it's unlikely I would find what I want. I have a stove that works, buying a new one is not a necessity. At this point in my life, if I'm going to replace it, it will be with what I want, not just something to use.

Oh, and my mother doesn't even know how to use a computer, let alone the internet. And we are going to keep it that way!

I am all for second hand. Heck my last dryer was twenty five bucks. (Oddly enough it matches my washer and that's the first time I've had a matching set). My stackable set upstairs is used too. So, no, I'm not too snotty for used.

And not a stupid question about the window trim. But, I think we have already done what you are talking about with this stove. Please ignore the fact that I didn't clean the stove after supper last night. Thank you.

According to the specs shown on the website, the new one is just a hair over an inch taller than mine. Yeah, we could cut out the window sill but I think that would look like crap.

For anyone with a Keurig machine - have you had problems with it turning itself off randomly? Mine just started that this morning, and I'm thinking its about to die... Sadwalk
I Google'd this because I can't help myself! Check out this page [fixya.com], seems several fixed the same problem by removing water tank and re-seating it, then unplugging. I'd give it a try and do contact Keurig if that doesn't work. They have excellent service and hopefully could take care of you. I dread the day my machine gives me trouble!

Thanks for that link! I did unplug it and wait for a little bit, and it eventually worked. But that is definitely good to know if it happens again. Seems like there are quirks with these machines, and they need a little babying from time to time. Dontknow

Well how about not cutting out the whole window sill just around where you need the stove to go. If you cut around it, you could sand it, paint it, etc so it's not completely out of order and the stove would hide it anyway. The other question is what way does your window open. I think from looking at the picture the window does not open up and down by side to side?

Another thought: How far out would the stove come if you had to keep it out rather then push it in to meet the window?

It's two side by side double hung windows, they slide up and down to open.

Yeah, we could cut out he window sill around the stove back, but, boy, I hate to do that.

That part of some stoves also slope a little bit forward but they don't have this stove in the store to look at so I wouldn't bet on that.

Oh and to make matters worse -- I called to ask a few questions, including if they had it on the floor -- I could get this dang thing delivered and carted into the house for ~ $20. They have free delivery right now so I would just have to pay the difference for distance (60 miles from store).

It's very tempting to order it and figure it out when it gets here. The other pain in the butt thing is that even though I would have to order it, I can't order it for propane gas and Best Buy no longer carriers the conversion kit. So, I would have order the conversion kit elsewhere.

Well, if you really, really, really want the stove then I say get it..that will motivate you to accommodate it. I would hate to cut into the window sill as well, but I am sure you can make it look good. Google it and see if others have done it. Plus it could make for a good winter project worship
