afternoon everyone!

yesterday went to an ice cream festival that was really a street fair w/ ice cream tastings you paid $7 to get 9 small samples of. it better have been the fundraiser i thought it was cuz otherwise those were expensive samples. was really hot and really crowded. and had to stand on line for each sample. when we got back my friend then agreed to take a look at the frames i had put on hold at lenscrafters. went back again to her parents house and they invited me to go to dinner w/ them. so i never got in the second target run i wanted to do. just had time to pop in there to check on my hidden treasure.

no 90% off this morning. i was going to buy some of it to make sure i got something, but decided to go for 90% off. now i'm getting scared it might not go 90% off and i should go back and get some of it like i'd planned to.

I didn't buy any towels until late last week. Yesterday, I had a cashier do a double take when the TQ beeped but then she looked at the picture and said, hey there are towels in the picture so it's good.

I guess it helps that the first coupon she scanned was the Ritz Crackerfuls, which I guess beeps on the cheddar ones? I hadn't tried that tq until yesterday so I was a little surprised. 5 different flavors of those crackers and they can't get the programming correct. laugh out loud

Made a quick target stop after church.. Got the free fruit snacks and that was it.. Kinda worn out from all the Target shopping the last few days! Hoping to maybe check another target tomorrow morning.. Would really like to find a cheap pool for DD.

Duuuuuuude isn't that the truth. I took a nap and ate a bunch of brownies today. Ran into Super T for a pack of chicken and didn't even use a Q. Checked out with my favorite cashier who was in shock that I didn't have a big order and pile of tou-pons for him.

Taking the kids tomorrow to do a little treasure hunting for some hidden deals. I wonder if we'll find anything exciting?? Whee

Last week was a great week of shopping, and although I want a break, the summer clearance is calling my name..

I need to search deals and make a list of pool items and DCPI that are following the summer markdowns..

SO much drama in deals tonight.. can't stand name calling.. the nerve of some people to go off on others on a public board makes me sick vomit So, ya know I had to add my .02 to the drama Coverlaugh

totally agree on chicken reheating flavor. that's what always used to happen for us.
lately i've managed to evade it by a) using a particular brand of chicken and b) i cook chicken on low-medium one side till it is opaque 1-2 mins, then ditto other side, and then immediately make sure there is liquid in the pan. simmer chicken in liquid for 4-5 mins. done.
if the chicken is fork tender the first day, with no chicken smell, when i heat it WITH LIQUID the second day, there is no strange chickeny smell or taste. so the key for me has to make sure the protein doesn't overcook on day one.
but until i discovered this recently, i was eating it cold also.

I was wondering what prompted that rant in deals. Sometimes I think it's more sour grapes because other stores aren't limiting. There are stores near me that limited tq before the wording changed, and there are stores that don't limit even now. I don't even bother trying to figure it out any longer.

Advance Auto Parts worked out the cheapest for us last year.
use the coupons they put out - there's one that's $40 off 100 - that's what we used for the battery... and then there were few other battery related things we needed so we put those in separate orders and used smaller denomination qs for those to maximize the savings. select the pick up in store option for no shipping cost. and use a cashback site like e b a t e s or mr r e b a t e s

you can do the whole transaction online, then go to the store. they will pull up your order number and then fix your battery for free as well as test your starter etc.

Haven't read the drama in deals: I'm seriously behind on all my SD threads.
However, I always think that if the dramatists had friendly stores and could get deals done easily, they'd be far too busy salivating and bragging and back-patting and shelf-clearing, far too busy for their misdirected consciences to come a-name calling and finger pointing. Then again, that's probably how they ended up in grape land, cos some day in the ancient past they must have had a friendly store, before a hypo-moral, compulsive shopper arrived, got greedy, wanton, indiscrete and foolish. And the store clamped down. And a hyper-moral dramatist was born. LMAO

I told my son we had to start reducing - give some away - have the yard sale I keep pretending I am going to have, etc. etc.

I took a big load of stuff to a former student of mine. Her husband is disabled - in a wheel chair. She is not a whole lot better - and fighting to get on disability. I figured I could use some stuff - and loaded some up and took it to them. I freed up some space in my freezer. I love ice tea - and so they made some ice tea when they knew I was coming - and used their last tea bags. (So I was happy I took them a box of tea.) They were tickled to get some food, soap, OTC meds, etc.

When I got home my son's friend came over. He had a sometimes kind of sort of girlfriend or something with him. So my son asked if he could offer them some stuff. I give his friend some stuff from time to time. But I mostly give him stuff we have a lot extra of - not stuff I got for me - or stuff I have been putting aside for a yard sale.

But the girl - OMG acted like she just won Supermarket Sweeps - She started digging through stuff - filling bags. EEK! I saw her grabbing my NEW shower curtain -Mad that I fought so hard to getNumchucks. She started cramming Mr. Clean magic erasers in a sack. EEK! Granted - she is developmentally disabled too (as is my son) - and I don't mind giving her stuff she needs...or even wants - but I certainly don't want her building an ENTIRE STOCKPILE from my stockpile. It was over the top. She was grabbing some of the proglides asking "Can girls use these?" I told her those were for my son - and started offering her some schick 2 count packs. laugh out loud She was holding up stuff asking my son't friend "Here. Do you want this?" He would say NO - and she was trying to talk him into taking it... (Head and Shoulders, Dove Men's 6 pack bars of soap...etc...)

Uhmmmm - he SAID he didn't want it - and I am saving that for my yard sale, thank you...

I told my son that from now on *I* will decide what to give people - and he is not to invite them to go on a free shopping spree in my stockpile. I am not totally greedy - but I also don't want to give a girl we see from time to time free reign to just fill bags and bags at my expense - even if I got lots of the stuff for free.

The girl, for what it was worth, seemed to think she was doing us a favor by taking it off our hands....

Cloudy here today and a welcome relief from the heat. Only summer clearance I bought yesterday was the blender, $4.95.

Sorry to hear about your job. That sucks. Whenever I say we're going to Target DS asks "how many Targets are we going to today?" It's REALLY funny when DH is with us and we're just running into ST for something for dinner. He just rolls his eyes. Whee
