Prayer Request Thread.

I'm changin my post now since my papaw is home and feeling better now. This thread is for anyone to use and post their own requests. Lux took my post from another thread and made this a separate thread just for that reason. Please do not hesitate to make requests cause you might be surprised at the support you will get from the loungers!!

Here is my original request...
Sorry I know this is off-topic but there seem to be some religious people in here right now.

Please say a prayer for my grandfather cause my mom just called and said he just called her and she is taking him to the emergency room. He is having pains (chest, I believe). It scares me cause he had a heart attack last summer and then a 5 bypass surgery. So now I'm heading to meet them at the hospital. Thanks!

I heart my Papaw!

I'm alive! Big Grin I just got home from the hospital about an hour ago. Everything went great. In addition to removing the disc, the surgeon also found a bone spur that was pressing on the nerve and removed that as well. I am actually not in a lot of pain. I could tell as soon as I woke up in recovery just how much better I felt overall without the nerve pain constantly bothering me. Just really sore more than anything. But I was told that as soon as I could comfortably move my neck from side to side and was no longer on any pain meds, I could start driving again. So hopefully a full recovery won't take as long as originally expected.

Thanks again everyone for your thoughts and prayers Smilie

Two years ago my husband's best friend was diagnosed with cancer. They never were able to identify what type but he had surgery, chemo and radiation for nearly a year and his last scan in August was clear.

Earlier this week he went back to MD Anderson in Houston and they did another PET scan. There is now a lesion on his brain. The doctor said surgery is a "maybe" but chemo is out. Not sure about more radiation.

Prayers appreciated.

I know this doesn't sound like a huge deal or anything...but my cat, Lightning, he turns 19 this April. He's always been really healthy but in the past few days he's had some really really horrible health issues. I'm by myself here and kind of scared and stressed, he's been my buddy since I was a teenager and I love him as much as I love most humans. If you guys could send some prayers or good thoughts for him, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.

We adopted Lightning and Thunder when they were probably about 9 weeks old. We had to put Thunder down 2 days before Christmas in 2014. Lightning has been there with me through almost every difficult thing in my life. He doesn't like many people but he loves me and follows me everywhere and sleeps on my back every night. I'm really scared I'm going to have to have him put down and it breaks my heart more than anything I could ever imagine.

ETA: I know he's had a long life and I know I've given him a good one. It's just hard, that's all. It about killed me when we had to put Thunder down. I can't imagine doing that again but will if it's best for him.

Comfort It was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do, when we had our 18 yo cat put down. We knew the end was coming and he sort of let us know when it was time to let him go. Looking back now, I'm glad we didn't draw things out, he would have been in a lot of pain if we hadn't let him go when we did.

It was the same way with Thunder...he was 17 at the time and one night I called him out for dinner and he crawled out from under the bed and he had lost all use of his back legs. We took him to the emergency vet that night and they said we could possibly prolong his life a tiny bit but most likely anything we did wouldn't help and he'd start suffering seizures in the next few days and he said "It'll be a painful passing" and that's when I knew we had to put him down. I never thought I'd be able to put a pet down but like you said, once it gets to that point, no matter how much it may hurt us it's better not to let them live like that once it gets to that point. I still wonder and probably always will, if we did the right thing. I think we did. I hope anyway. And I hope I'll know what to do with Lightning.

Sorry, My cat is the same way - always there walking with me or sitting by me or bringing me mice. I dread the time that he will no longer be by my side.

I lost my Meenew three years ago, very unexpectedly, to cancer. I have her daughter, who I love very much, but not a day goes by that I don't miss her mama. Prayers for your baby (and for you).

Lightning had a bunch of stuff done at the Dr today.

The found a huge mass in his stomach. An ultrasound showed it was mostly fluid. They don't know if it's because of a tumor that's hidden, if there's a tumor behind it, if it's just fluid, if his kidneys aren't draining and that's what it is.

His kidneys are really really small. Between that and the blood tests they ran, they suspect kidney failure, which in theory could me managed with medication.

They aren't sure why he suddenly went blind. They said it could be a tumor behind his eye or it could be from infection. His white blood counts are high which could mean anything from a UTI to cancer.

If it's a tumor, they'd say to remove his eye but he's so old (about a month from being 19) that they don't think he could survive surgery.

Same with the mass in his stomach. They'd like to remove it but don't think he could survive surgery.

They're gonna check tomorrow for a UTI (had to get a sample tonight) which could explain the high white blood cell count. They are actually really hoping for a UTI so at least that's something they could treat. They aren't really sure exactly what else to do, given his age. He was really good at the vet, we were there for hours today. I've never been more proud of him. They said he looked amazingly good for his age, weight/fur/energy/hearing.

(Update for anyone who cares, lol)
