I'm changin my post now since my papaw is home and feeling better now. This thread is for anyone to use and post their own requests. Lux took my post from another thread and made this a separate thread just for that reason. Please do not hesitate to make requests cause you might be surprised at the support you will get from the loungers!!
Here is my original request...
Sorry I know this is off-topic but there seem to be some religious people in here right now.
Please say a prayer for my grandfather cause my mom just called and said he just called her and she is taking him to the emergency room. He is having pains (chest, I believe). It scares me cause he had a heart attack last summer and then a 5 bypass surgery. So now I'm heading to meet them at the hospital. Thanks!

The found a huge mass in his stomach. An ultrasound showed it was mostly fluid. They don't know if it's because of a tumor that's hidden, if there's a tumor behind it, if it's just fluid, if his kidneys aren't draining and that's what it is.
His kidneys are really really small. Between that and the blood tests they ran, they suspect kidney failure, which in theory could me managed with medication.
They aren't sure why he suddenly went blind. They said it could be a tumor behind his eye or it could be from infection. His white blood counts are high which could mean anything from a UTI to cancer.
If it's a tumor, they'd say to remove his eye but he's so old (about a month from being 19) that they don't think he could survive surgery.
Same with the mass in his stomach. They'd like to remove it but don't think he could survive surgery.
They're gonna check tomorrow for a UTI (had to get a sample tonight) which could explain the high white blood cell count. They are actually really hoping for a UTI so at least that's something they could treat. They aren't really sure exactly what else to do, given his age. He was really good at the vet, we were there for hours today. I've never been more proud of him. They said he looked amazingly good for his age, weight/fur/energy/hearing.
(Update for anyone who cares, lol)

To answer your question, so far, yes. If it wasn't for him going blind suddenly, everything else seems normal for him. Energy level, appetite, bathroom stuff, eating/drinking, temperament.
I took in his urine sample this morning. Good and bad. Showed he does have a UTI, which was actually good. They can start him on antibiotics (2 times a day for 2 weeks, he's not great with pills but doing my best. He did good this morning once I was able to pry his mouth open, lol). They said the antibiotics will help with the UTI, could possibly help with his kidneys...if the cyst is a product of infection, it *could* help that, and there is a very very slight possibility it could help with his eye sight. Dr. isn't hugely hopeful about that but there is a possibility.
The results also showed that he is for sure in renal failure. So he's gotta be on special food for the rest of his life that could help...not sure if he'll eat it but I'm hoping he will. My other cat (named Cat)...he has FIV and has to be on a high protein diet. Lightning needs to be on a low protein diet so I'm gonna have to figure out how to keep them from eating each others foods.
The cyst...the Dr. said we can't biopsy it (because it's liquid, it's like a water balloon and would just pop). She said if he was younger they'd just remove it but since he's about 19, the surgery would probably have more threat. So it could be the product of a cancerous tumor that's hiding behind it but we can't remove it to find out. Right now, he's 12.8 pounds, she couldn't stop talking about how great his coat looks, he eats a bunch, still active, etc. So at the moment, while he has kidney failure, it doesn't appear as though it's at end stage yet. In theory anyway. So for the moment we are treating his UTI and then after that stabilizes, we're gonna go farther and look at other stuff. He has a possibility of a brain tumor (based on other things) but even if he does, since he's so old, it can't be removed. At the moment, we're working on making him as comfortable as he can be until it gets to the point where it gets bad enough.
Problem is, we're in the process of moving 4 1/2 hours away. So I'm trying to work with his issues now, and they said not to stress him out...but such a long drive and the move are obviously going to stress him out. I'm just at a loss for all that. But I don't need to deal with that tonight so for tonight, I'm just gonna focus on getting him his meds and stuff.

He had a major surgery and strokes last year and I have cared for him and nursed him back to health as much as I can, but I need to move him into my living room as they are foreclosing on his house so we can pool our money together save and then move to Tennessee where my family is. I need prayers for energy and strength to move him here and find good SD's as I sell the items on Craigslist to make some extra money and then move to Tennessee. I really struggle with chronic pain which is exhausting and am looking forward to having a real family for the first time in my life. I would appreciate your prayers and I would be honored to return the favor for every post I see here. I appreciate all of you and SD's as It has enabled me to live better on my small fixed income and gives me something fun and productive to do from my bed. I thank all of you for the funny comments I read and the smiles I get every day I am on here!

I'm so sorry about Lightning Autumn, I completely understand and can relate. My cat died of kidney failure and was blind off and on for the last few months of her life. I later found out that with kidney failure they often have high blood pressure that can lead to blindness, has she been checked for hbp? Also, has her potassium level been checked? And i care, too
agree that cats on antibiotics need probiotics, Fortiflora is good and they generally love the taste.
