Prayer Request Thread.

I'm changin my post now since my papaw is home and feeling better now. This thread is for anyone to use and post their own requests. Lux took my post from another thread and made this a separate thread just for that reason. Please do not hesitate to make requests cause you might be surprised at the support you will get from the loungers!!

Here is my original request...
Sorry I know this is off-topic but there seem to be some religious people in here right now.

Please say a prayer for my grandfather cause my mom just called and said he just called her and she is taking him to the emergency room. He is having pains (chest, I believe). It scares me cause he had a heart attack last summer and then a 5 bypass surgery. So now I'm heading to meet them at the hospital. Thanks!

I heart my Papaw!

To answer your question, so far, yes. If it wasn't for him going blind suddenly, everything else seems normal for him. Energy level, appetite, bathroom stuff, eating/drinking, temperament.

I took in his urine sample this morning. Good and bad. Showed he does have a UTI, which was actually good. They can start him on antibiotics (2 times a day for 2 weeks, he's not great with pills but doing my best. He did good this morning once I was able to pry his mouth open, lol). They said the antibiotics will help with the UTI, could possibly help with his kidneys...if the cyst is a product of infection, it *could* help that, and there is a very very slight possibility it could help with his eye sight. Dr. isn't hugely hopeful about that but there is a possibility.

The results also showed that he is for sure in renal failure. So he's gotta be on special food for the rest of his life that could help...not sure if he'll eat it but I'm hoping he will. My other cat (named Cat)...he has FIV and has to be on a high protein diet. Lightning needs to be on a low protein diet so I'm gonna have to figure out how to keep them from eating each others foods.

The cyst...the Dr. said we can't biopsy it (because it's liquid, it's like a water balloon and would just pop). She said if he was younger they'd just remove it but since he's about 19, the surgery would probably have more threat. So it could be the product of a cancerous tumor that's hiding behind it but we can't remove it to find out. Right now, he's 12.8 pounds, she couldn't stop talking about how great his coat looks, he eats a bunch, still active, etc. So at the moment, while he has kidney failure, it doesn't appear as though it's at end stage yet. In theory anyway. So for the moment we are treating his UTI and then after that stabilizes, we're gonna go farther and look at other stuff. He has a possibility of a brain tumor (based on other things) but even if he does, since he's so old, it can't be removed. At the moment, we're working on making him as comfortable as he can be until it gets to the point where it gets bad enough.

Problem is, we're in the process of moving 4 1/2 hours away. So I'm trying to work with his issues now, and they said not to stress him out...but such a long drive and the move are obviously going to stress him out. I'm just at a loss for all that. But I don't need to deal with that tonight so for tonight, I'm just gonna focus on getting him his meds and stuff.
A couple of things that might help...

Try using 'Pill Pockets' or 'Pill-masker' for any oral meds you have to give him. Some cats love them, some not so much, ask your vet if they have some free samples you can try. I preferred the 'Pill-Masker' brand as it's a little tub of the stuff and you can shape it around the pill to cover the yucky smell of the pill. The cats seem to like it better too. The pill pockets are good for dogs but a bit big for cats to swallow. You can find both at Petco or Petsmart. Amazon has it but as an add on to another order.

http://smile.amazon.com/gp/produc...1_1&sr=8-1

As for the move, if your cat gets stressed in the car, ask the vet about a pill for traveling, they do this with pets that are flying, it keeps them from stressing out during travel.

Hi I am April. I just found out last week, at 49 years old that my father is alive ( I was told he was dead when I was a child) and I have a whole family that has been looking for me all my life. I have been home-bound and mostly bedridden for 16 years. I have a lot of online friends but I have no real friends save one elderly man named Jimmy. He is a neighbor and we have been close friends since his wife passed almost a decade ago.
He had a major surgery and strokes last year and I have cared for him and nursed him back to health as much as I can, but I need to move him into my living room as they are foreclosing on his house so we can pool our money together save and then move to Tennessee where my family is. I need prayers for energy and strength to move him here and find good SD's as I sell the items on Craigslist to make some extra money and then move to Tennessee. I really struggle with chronic pain which is exhausting and am looking forward to having a real family for the first time in my life. I would appreciate your prayers and I would be honored to return the favor for every post I see here. I appreciate all of you and SD's as It has enabled me to live better on my small fixed income and gives me something fun and productive to do from my bed. I thank all of you for the funny comments I read and the smiles I get every day I am on here!
Will be praying that everything comes together and that when you move you will find a great support system!

I'm afraid I have much to ask for today.

My dear friend lost her daughter yesterday, to complications of Lupus. She was 47.

Another friend (that I've mentioned before), is 33 and has Stage IV cervical cancer. She isn't responding to treatment and is experiencing lots of horrible side-effects. She has a 6 yr old daughter, watching all of this.

My 94 yr old FIL, is really fading away. It's scary to watch and heart-breaking because he's in much pain. He's having great difficulty getting up and down. . I know he's very tired and is really close to giving up.

If you could spare a little time in your day for these folks, I would so appreciate it.

Wow! You have certainly had more than enough on your plate this year. Comfort. Prayers for you and your fur baby. Take your drive slowly, and include a blanket that you has your scent on it in your pet carrier. It might help calm him.
Thanks hug He does like to lie down on piles of dirty laundry before they are washed. I'll try that, thanks.

Prayers please for the MANY people of Louisiana who have been affected by the flooding. It is really bad in so many areas of the state. The Sabine River, that divides the lower half of Louisiana for Texas, is expected to see the worst flooding in recorded history. More rain is on its way and what's in the northern part of the state will be moving downstream and will likely cause flooding in additional areas in the coming weeks. Recovery will takes a long time. The dam on Toledo Bend Reservoir is currently releasing more water per minute than flows over Niagara Falls.
Geeze, I agree. It's awful. I've been so much stuff about it. Prayers for them all.

I have a cat who is paralyzed and he had chronic UTI's for a few years until I found this...he has not had another one in 3 years now..I used it as directed then weaned it down over 6 months to once a week and now I don't even need it anymore. I do make his own food which is way cheaper and better for him in the long run as the Urinary tract care food s are expensive. I will give you the recipe if you want it too...Now all 3 of my cats eat it and NO more vets bills..none! The product is on Amazon but their website has buy 2 get 1 free which is the best deal for continued use. I am praying for you all and happy to help. Just PM me.
Take Care Sweetie,
April

Ps be sure to give him probiotics to replace the ggod ones the antibiotics kill. I use this and for years and I will never turn back..it is amazing..It is on Amazon as well but their company has better deals on their website.

Here is the review I wrote about it.....so you can see how much it helps

Omg, I actually looked at that first link. I have one of their products I use for the cats, easesure so I was looking into their other products as well.

I'm definitely going to try the probiotics after I make sure it's ok with the vet (I'm sure it will be).

I was actually wondering about making my own food for him. He is ok with the renal failure food but doesn't really love it. While he still is hungry and eating, I want to make sure he's eating a bunch. Most of the recipes I've looked up require something to crunch up bones to make a bone powder to add to his food. If that's something that'll help, I'll get it. Except for being mostly blind, he's mostly a pretty happy guy and I'd like to keep him that way for as long as I can.

Thank you hug

I'm so sorry about Lightning Autumn, I completely understand and can relate. My cat died of kidney failure and was blind off and on for the last few months of her life. I later found out that with kidney failure they often have high blood pressure that can lead to blindness, has she been checked for hbp? Also, has her potassium level been checked? And i care, too Smilie

agree that cats on antibiotics need probiotics, Fortiflora is good and they generally love the taste.
I did actually have his blood pressure checked. I thought it would be sky high (especially being at the vet). The top number, she said if it was over 190 that would be considered high, but his top number was 153, which honestly truly surprised me. She said he could have had a spike in blood pressure though, that caused the retina to detach. His potassium levels were checked (I have the complete blood workup reading in my car so I can't remember the exact number). She said it was higher than they wanted but it wasn't off the charts high, just high. Also his BUN (not sure what that is but from what I've seen, that also has to do with kidneys) was high and his red blood count was a little low, which she thinks is because of the kidneys as well.

Thank you hug

Oh, thank you! The vet just showed me some greenies thing that was good for giving pills...but I really didn't think Lightning would eat the greenies. he might he what you linked me to, though. As for now, I've just been sitting him on my lap, prying his mouth open, toss it in the back of his mouth and then hold his mouth closed. He's actually doing pretty decent with it (though I did find one pill he had spit out, later in the day). He doesn't love when I do it but as soon as I let him go, he starts purring and then waiting for his food. I'm pretty proud of him.

My young friend is dying. There is nothing that can be done for her. They are sending her home with meds to keep her comfortable. It will only be a short time, as she can't eat. We are hoping she makes it home, as her treatment center is four hours away.

I have no words that even sound like comfort for such a horrible situation. Life can be so unfair.

They are hoping to travel one of the next two days. She hasn't been stable enough to make the trip.

Thanks everyone for your prayers.
