Official 2011-12 NHL Thread - Congratulations to the Los Angeles Kings!

Hockey is back! After a summer of tragedy, it's time to drop the puck!

Who's the Cup favorite? Who made the best off season moves? When will Crosby return? When will Doughty sign?

And to start off the season, Mike Modano officially retired yesterday.

One of them will not be undefeated after tonight's game. So far it's been a good one. Vokoun has been stealing the show for the Caps.

Wings are definitely not out of this game. Caps are getting careless.

It's a difference of goalies. My faith is dwindling for tonight.

...and gone.

Conklin definitely didn't bring his A game tonight.

Caps have looked really good to start this season. They need to start losing though so they don't do it in April/May.

Agreed. When the Tigers went on that win streak at the end of the season this year, I said that I hoped they didn't pull a "Red Wings" - win the President's Trophy and then have no oomph left in the playoffs.

Too many bandwagon fans already are planning the parade.

What about Colorado's hot start? Can they keep it up?

Bruins have called a press conference for this evening. Not really sure why. Landers?

Huh. Didn't hear about that. I can't imagine that they'd be making any sort of drastic move to the team. Rough start, but nothing worth firing anyone over or anything..

I kinda hope they can...at least a little. Maybe it will bring back a little of the rivalry. Nowadays everybody hates the Pens, but we don't play them as often, obviously.

Crazy night in the NHL. Jets lose a 5-1 lead when Flyers tie it up at 6....and then trade goals until the Jets win in a 9-8 score? When I saw the score, I was thinking it was time to bring back the 2 line pass rule, but it didn't look like any were breakways.
Lengthy fight fight in Boston. but nothing really landed.

If they only could've held it together for a just few more months.

laugh out loud I'd rather get the losses now than in April/May.

I don't think the Caps played badly. They had their chances and just didn't bury 'em. It happens.

How about the Winnipeg-Philly game last night? 9-8? Seems more like a baseball or football game than a hockey game.

I was watching that and the Bruins last night. 6-1 or something starting the third and it ends 9-8. Absolutely insane, every time I looked over another goal was being scored it seemed. Would have been a cool game to be at.
