Official 2011-12 NHL Thread - Congratulations to the Los Angeles Kings!

Hockey is back! After a summer of tragedy, it's time to drop the puck!

Who's the Cup favorite? Who made the best off season moves? When will Crosby return? When will Doughty sign?

And to start off the season, Mike Modano officially retired yesterday.

I thought you were from Buffalo. Can't replicate the best wings too?
I am! I've had real NY style pizza and then there's the most AH-MAZING pizza place in Niagara Falls called Buzzy's. You must go there when you visit Buffalo.

And yes, same goes for chicken wings. The shit you get from the chains or otherwise is just not the same. I went to NYC once and someone told me they get the best wings from this one place and they were so bad in comparison. Yuk Duff's has the best Buffalo wings. drool

Now I can't wait to get to Buffalo! We're definitely looking forward to some good eats. I'll definitely be asking you before we get there!

Now, can somebody please go find the Washington offense for me? Annoyed

Getting back on topic since I digressed us a bit.

Anything sticking with everyone now that we are about a thirdof the way through?

For me, I laugh when I think about Heatley lashing out about being traded to the Wild, but now they sit on top of the conference. Also, I have a suspicion that the financial woes the world is facing is directly correlated to the Toronto Maple Leafs playoff absence for the past eight years. Here is hoping they finally make it in.

Eww. I hate deep dish pizza. New York style ftw!

Although, I just thinking pizza in general is kind of lacking in Florida, because you can't replicate the best!
I like both. But I can't get anything that's good here in Texas. I always eat a crap load of pizza when I go back to Boston cuz the shmucks down here don't know how to make good pizza.

It's not the financial state that's causing them problems. They're a huge hockey market and have a fan base that demands results. It's poor management, trading away key players (Tuukka Rask) and giving away 2 first round draft picks to Boston for Phil Kessel. Kessel may be having a great year, but I'd rather have the young Seguin and Dougie Hamilton over him any day. They'll develop into great players in the NHL.

Poor management like that won't help them work their way back into the playoffs.

Trust me, idiot Maple Leaf fans still fill the arena despite that their ticket prices are ass expensive. Not to mention, they raid Buffalo's barn when Toronto plays because the tickets are so much cheaper here. There's no shortage of annoying Toronto fans. laugh out loud

Brian Burke isn't going to save us all? laugh out loud

Florida has been a nice surprise. They made some huge upgrades (Campbell, Fleischmann) in the off season.

Columbus looks awful. Steve Mason looks like he's lost all the confidence he had as a rookie. The trade for Jeff Carter hasn't really helped them.

Edmonton is looking good. They've gotten a lot of scoring from their young guys and Khabibulin looks like the Stanley Cup winner when he was in Tampa.

Leafs fans will always love their team. Same with Habs fans. They're just crazy.

As much as I hate Habs fans, that is one place I would love to go see a game, as well as the Air Canada Centre. Anything is better than the St. Pete Times Forum down here, just doesn't feel right walking around inside it, although the new entrance and seats they put in are quite nice.

I've been to the St. Pete several times. I used to go when I was in college all the time. I was actually there a month ago for the Phlyers game when they had the 40 seconds of stand still. That sucked.

I'm planning on going to a game in Toronto while up there in April. Can't wait!

You're in Tampa. Why root for Ohio anything? The Bolts are my backup team (since day one, not just because of Stevie's recent involvement.)

Spent my last six years in "lovely" Toledo, getting spat on by every Red Wings fan that walked by. Smilie

Must say that I do miss the Detroit/Michigan passion for hockey, just isn't the same down here. Frown
