Official 2011-12 NHL Thread - Congratulations to the Los Angeles Kings!

Hockey is back! After a summer of tragedy, it's time to drop the puck!

Who's the Cup favorite? Who made the best off season moves? When will Crosby return? When will Doughty sign?

And to start off the season, Mike Modano officially retired yesterday.

The Blues will do well at Staples, you know it...

Hitchcock is a great coach. When he changed goalies just to give his top line a breather for the 5-on-3, I was like "bravo" smart coach.

I don't expect the next game to be very friendly

Nobody expected St. Louis to be down 2-0. But that's what makes the playoffs so exciting - anything can (and has) happened.

Too bad I live on the east coast so staying up for games is tough.

That Blues-Kings game was crazy. Looks like the Kings could be well on their way to winning the Cup if they can keep this up. Glad to see the Caps win as well.

Also, Alexander Radulov and Andrei Kostitsyn have been suspended by the Preds for tomorrow night's game. So far I have seen excessive partying/drinking and missing curfew as two possible reasons. Wouldn't surprise me if it was a combination of the two.

Good thing they are the two players that were putting the Preds over the top, according to every analyst I seen regarding the acquisitions. So dumb. Good to see the Preds organization sticking to their guns though.

Sad thing is it hurts the team more than it hurts those two.

I know, just sayin. The stupid actions of the few don't represent the many, but the many suffer.

Apparently this whole thing happened on Saturday night. I guess that would explain a lot, especially about Radulov's lack of caring during game 2. Probably difficult to concentrate when you're nursing a hangover.

As far as game 3 goes, I can't see this hurting the Preds too much. They weren't exactly getting it done in the previous 2 games. This might be motivation for a couple of guys who have had to sit out to go out there and prove they belong and actually play hard at both ends of the ice.

I can, however, see this greatly affecting the team next season. Both guys are egotistical enough to blame the organization for a problem they caused and not even consider negotiating with Nashville this summer. And the earlier the Preds get eliminated, probably the less likely Weber and Suter are to re-sign.

There's already talk that Radulov will go back to the KHL next season. It's too bad - Nashville tied up a TON of resources in him and they're getting nothing out of it. All they can do is suspend him without pay and sit.

Maybe Nashville will dress some guys that actually care and have a chance.

Oh I know. I just figure that whatever small chance there was of the Preds locking him up long term are most likely completely out the window after this. When he came back to Nashville, it looked like he was taking things seriously for a change. And now he pulls a stunt like this. If this is how he wants to do things, then all I can say is good riddance.
