Q: which of the palettes work best? nyx, sephora, elf, coastal scents, so forth... you know the big ones with all the shadows, blushes, and glosses in one. I have an feeling I may be doing some holiday makeovers and I want some imput. I have coastal scents and the eye shadows are pretty good, but I want to know if they are all about the same or not. TYIA! Smilie
It probably boils down to personal preference. However, I think you would get the most bang for your buck with the Sephora Studio Blockbuster [sephora.com] as it has everything you need. I really like the eyeshadows in the Smashbox palettes, but they don't have blushes, glosses. The Lorac palettes/sets are really nice IMO and have everything you need. But I would think if you are doing several makeovers, you would have more options with the Sephora kit.

From what I've read on a lot of blogs, the problem with the huge sets is finding one that has good quality products throughout - for example, the e/s will be good, but the lipglosses will suck, etc. I did see several positive reviews for the Stila Ultimate Color Palette ($20 at Costco). See blog posts here [musingsofamuse.com] and here [beautymeetslifestyle.com], and MUA reviews here [makeupalley.com]. HTH!

edit: found another palette that you might want to consider: Nordstrom Makeup Palette [nordstrom.com], $29. I couldn't find reviews of this one, but items similar to this one by Nordstrom have, in the past, gotten good reviews, so something to check out maybe?

Get better ladies. My allergies go crazy in the fall. They were horrible in October. Dh said today that I'm finally sounding normal again. I love the fall, but I hate getting sick.

This is sooooooo true. When it comes to makeup it is always quality over quantity. I feel like it is overall cheaper to find products that really work for you in small palettes or individually than the huge (cheaper) palettes that you wont end up using the majority of. Plus make up needs to be replaced every 6 months to 2 years depending on the type of product.

Yup, and if I buy something and more than a few of the products are not good quality, I usu end up not using the rest of the palette too...just cuz it's frustrating to lug it around and then be limited by what I can use. I'm fine if it's maybe 1-2 shades or something, but if a whole bunch are poor quality, then it ends up just sitting there and collecting dust.

My only palettes are from urban decay and stila. I got the stila ones for super cheap from the deals we post, and the ud palettes are just awesome.

30% off and free shipping at ae & aerie.

aerie's bras are 40% off already. how are aerie's yoga pants. they're on sale for 19.99 so that's pretty good with the 30% code.

I was disappointed when I learned that the Harajuku Lovers line at Target was actually Harajuku Mini--for kids. However, I went to T anyway b/c there is a ruffle skirt [target.com] that I wanted for my niece. (You can see the items online, but they are only available in-store.) The skirt was horrible, but I got my niece a cute coat [target.com] for FREE. (I am a sucker for cute polka dots and bows.) CVS is doing GC deals every week, and one of the GCs they offer is AMEX. I used three of my GCs to buy her coat...just in time for her b-day...to go along with all the other stuff I have bought her. This is why I do not have children. #tooexpensive

thanks for the hu on the aerie deal alvs. their yoga pants are amazing! the material is really good and very resistant to fading and pilling. their xs runs a tad bigger than pink's xs, but that works nicely for me since pink's yoga pants can be a bit tight.

how was ca? how'd the interview go? Smilie

and i agree, i'm really wary of big palettes that have everything in it since i'm not sure if it's good quality. i really like the costco stila set you posted though. what a steal for $20. i want! hehe.

anni--i received a backordered item yesterday and it didn't have an SRC Frown hoping that's a fluke too. i received a replacement item for a face wash that had a broken safety seal and received an src with that... hoping the rest of my bo packages get an src.
