Gals, I called Express, and they said they're not open on Thanksgiving day!!! They said they're open at midnight, 12AM on Black Friday.

But that's not what this booklet of scans says! https://slickdeals.net/blackfriday/deal/express/1334

And they told me they don't know what the booklet means!

Edit: I called them and it looks like it's only select stores - 10 stores in the US or something. Le sigh. I was so excited! I guess I will have to wait it out, unless I wanna pay shipping.

Edit2: I might just buy online - is the shipping a flat rate? I've added $300.xx of products and it's showing $8. I'm not sure cause I don't really shop online at Express.

I can speak to the Kindle's worthiness ( I have the DX, the big honker). It's an adjustment but it's great. I do have cookbooks and travel books on it- those would be the only things that I would say do not translate well. Cook books- I want my color pictures and to be able to write notes, travel books- I want to be able to flip to different sections ... you can bookmark pages to jump to, but it just doesn't work well for that purpose for me. You can throw PDF documents on it and read them- so articles, or resumes or whatever it is that you would print and carry with you can go on this. The kindle touch is not a tablet computer like the i-pad or kindle fire, but for checking email and very limited web browsing, it's probably fine. It looks like Best Buy carries them in-store so you could test it out before buying. IMO, worth it nod

The $8 shipping is worth it for me because of my distance to the store anyway. I use my trip to the store to return the things I don't want laugh out loud I'll save my RC for the FS day so I can buy a cheap item without the $8 eating through my discount.

Gathering Went to a pre-Thanksgving dinner and got to practice making sweet potatoes before I have to do it for the in-laws this week.

Made candied sweet potatoes from this recipe [allrecipes.com] . My first time doing it and they were Licklips (caveat: we don't like sickly sweet stuff)
My changes were: canned potatos instead of fresh (2 - 15.5oz cans), 1 cup of 50/50 butter/smart balance butter, 1 cup of brown sugar, 1tblspn cinnamon, 1tbspn pumpkin pie spice (* I think this was what made it great). It was soooo easy!

We also made this savory version Smokey Sweet Potato Souffle [foodnetwork.com] with chipotle pepper, adobo sauce and bacon, and while good... it is really suited more as a side to steaks, not Thanksgiving Turkey.

Last year, my niece bought the canned yams, I have never made the dish before so I winged it, it turned out pretty good.
