Question for the thread: DH is in a friend's wedding. Bride & Groom are pretending they've never done the nasty so they don't want to spend the night in the same room the night before the wedding. OK, fine. Bride is staying with Bridesmaids, Groom doesn't want to sleep alone in a room. There are 2 single groomsman in 1 room he could crash, but it doesn't sound like he wants to do that. The solution suggested was for my DH to share a room with the groom + the other married groomsman, while I share a room (and a bed) with groomsman's wife and their 2 year old (kid would be on some kind of travel mattress). I'm on #teamnokids , so does this sound like a good idea to anyone?
You don't want to sleep with a 2 year old unless you want to be on #teamnosleep!

do you have to stay the night? is this not a local wedding?
can't the groom stay with the single groomsmen so the married ones can stay with their wives?
i would not choose to stay with a 2 year old if i had any other choice.

In-store or online? ... and i love #teamnokids laugh out loud ETA- glad you're OK, sounds like you stayed calm and did everything right hug
I am finally home! I was so unprepared for this situation. I had not taken any meds or eaten (b/c "I will be right back" and I wanted to eat the soup I was going out for). I had not fully charged my phone. Luckily, my phone did not die until a few minutes before my friend picked me up. The radiator needs to be replaced. Maybe some other things. Will shall see. After being stranded between two highways (they call it a gore...just white lines cars are not supposed to cross) at 3:30 in the morning with no lights and the tow truck NEVER shows up, it was easy to be calm in this situation. Thank you all for your kind thoughts.

In-store ended yesterday (officially). Online ends Sunday.

I love well-behaved kids, but the others can kick rocks. AND I do not want any for a long period of time. So Kurpee can bring the boys, I play with them for a few minutes, maybe an hour...then she needs to get them away from me before I get "baby fever".

laugh out loud That's what I was wondering about... Baby By 2 y/o, do they sleep through the night and it's just "terrible twos" temper tantrums during the day? From what you're saying though, I gather they still have trouble making it through the night?

It's not a local wedding and they want the bridal party to stay at the venue. ( @ $300/night x 2 nights Huh, we can afford it, but I'm thinking- hey dude... that's your wedding gift from us Cool)

Yeah, I couldn't understand why you would break up a family to do this, then I find out the mom suggested this idea herself! Faint It seems the mom and the bride were talking and thought the guys could spend some quality time together. It's a tiny inn (<10 rooms)... they can spend all night reminiscing and crawl back to their respective rooms, why do they need to sleep together? The first thought that comes to mind is what you said-why not have the groom crash in the singles room? We're not sure about it, but DH thinks that it's b/c groom is closer to the married friends (they all grew up together, while the other 2 came along in college). I'm thinking, why doesn't the groom just crash with DH and I? We've shared a few nights with him while traveling. I don't know... I'm the only one objecting at this point so I feel like I'm going to look like an ass... or the mom will think I don't like her which is not the case ( insert additional drama here) .

Most sleep through the night at that age in their normal environment. Put them in a hotel and who knows. At that age, ds would go to bed early (8) and wake up early (6). If he stayed up late he would wake up earlier laugh out loud. Plus they take naps.

free ebook, may actually be useful to most of us. organized simplicity [amazon.com]

just a reminder, e-books i think are 1-click, so before clicking on buy it button, make sure the price is $0. prices may change.

p.s. i only link to bigger collections, or maybe more useful titles like this. i hope i'm not annoying anyone. if you don't want to miss free kindle books, set your deal alert for "kindle". my alert is only at "kindle" so i get pop-ups with cases, kindle fire etc, if you don't want those, maybe use "kindle book" instead.
I love that you share the free ebooks. I like to send the links to my MIL for her Kindle you all suggested I buy her for Christmas. She has apparently talked everybody she knows into buying a Kindle, btw. laugh out loud I have no idea which books she'll want, so I like that you post a variety.

Yup! I thought about going to work today, but I decided against it. Hopefully, by Thursday, I will be fully functioning. The bad thing is I will be doing this again when I have two more teeth removed. I wish I had this ortho when I had my oral surgery. I could have had all 12 teeth removed at once...while I was under! This blows!
That sounds painful. Frown 12 teeth is a lot to have removed. hug

You have so much discipline with your diet. I drink Diet Pepsi to take my meds at night. Embarrassment

I hope we can find some good deals online next week then. I haven't looked lately to see if there's anything I want. I must do that.

where is everyone today? i'm back from the cold! and it's kinda cold at home too! it was really funny - our flight attendant for 1 of my flights was funny and really chatty - i had a VS sale bag that i was using as food carrier so when i threw it away she asked me what i got there. i told her a pj thing, and she said they're currently doing 20% off sweaters and boots (or something) and that she really likes their silk/cashmere sweaters but not the non silk/cashmere sweaters kuz they're thin so she had to do some returns. she also said that she has a shopping problem. i immediately thought of you guys - were any of you my flight attendant?
A flight attendant with a shopping addiction... That's a recipe for disaster. Can you imagine flying into all those cities with nothing to do on your layover but shop. I wouldn't end up bringing home any of my paycheck. Teehee

EEK! I'm glad you got home okay. It's sweet that your SO was so concerned. I told you he may be the one. Wink

Forget the 2 yr. old. I'd rather sleep in a room with a 2 yr. old than share a bed with a stranger. There's no way I'd do that. I have too many bad habits like sleeping with a light on, & falling to sleep with the tv on to share a room with someone who didn't know me well.

eta: After reading your last post, it looks like you know the woman you'd be sleeping with. I still wouldn't do it. The only women I'd share a bed with are my sisters or nieces. Maybe, I'm strange. Dontknow

I missed this earlier. This really depends on the child. They're all different. As Alvs said, most go to bed early & get up early. They don't all do that though. I was one of those bad moms that let their child stay up until 2 am, then sleep until 10 or 11. He started sleeping through the night very early. He only took naps, if we went somewhere in the car. He'd fall asleep in his car seat. Believe it or not, a lot of kids don't through tantrums. I didn't realize it was so prevalent, until I started reading a Disney message board. My parents didn't consider that acceptable, therefore my sisters & I didn't either. If it were me, I'd be more concerned about sharing a room with a woman I didn't know well than having the 2 yr. old in the room. Most kids that have boundaries are a joy to be around. Those that are allowed to be brats are a different story.

I'm going to go with the gals and lean towards no. Unless there really really really is absolutely no other option and you don't want to cause drama. It would be strange sharing a bed with someone that I don't really know well. If you're okay...then...I guess you can go down that route.

But this is overall a strange arrangement.

Yeah, it weirds me out a little as well. Even when it's people I know, I can feel my anxiety level uptick and I can't sleep - like at sleep overs when I was little Coverlaugh I have "known" her for 7 years and we've had a chat or two, but we're not even Fbook friends. She friended DH on her personal account several years ago , but I got added a few months ago to her business page Messed Up ... there's your level of "closeness" laugh out loud

I'd stay with my in-laws, but they bring their children's replacements (dogs) which pee on anything sitting on the floor, and FIL's snoring is earth-shatteringly loud - ear plugs don't cut it.Nono
