Nope, they were put into effect with these giveaways in mind.

Your existing referrals keep counting but yes, the new referrals for that day do count more.

Under My Account click on Setting & Options, then click on Edit Profile and you can add the name of the person who referred you to SD.

But it is a nice bonus for the professional contest enterers who just go around the internets joining contests.

It's sad that it seems to have become all about the numbers. The loyal long-term members are pretty much here to stay so there is no need to do anything to benefit them.
