Question
The "can't take it with you" edition for 2012.
How many orders do you think you'll place on amazon.com this year? In 2011, I placed 16 orders (which seemed low to me, but whatever). For '12, I'm thinking I'll be over 100. I'm already at 3, although it's being delivered in 4 separate packages.
I say every time you order something from amazon, you can come update it in here.
I'm at 3 on Jan 3rd.

That is correct. Prime members do not get receipts for free Prime rentals. Also you can not add them to your library. If I want to save, I put on my Wish List then price magically goes up. I have a Roku too.
As far as number of purchases, I have to inventory my CCs. For all I know other people are using them too. I can't even tell.
Heads up to Amazon folks: I believe Amazon is rebuilding Fire based on complaints. My understanding is Amazon is taking a loss on Fire but no worries, it is all to sell their apps and books.
I believe Amazon is taking the following 2 articles into consideration with the rebuild:
Kindle Fire Usability Findings [useit.com]
This is an excellent article that says if the 7" tablet isn't redesigned to meet its needs it will die in the market. I want that size so holding out for redesign.
Excerpt:
For 7-inch tablets to succeed, service and content providers must design specifically for these devices. Repurposed designs from print, mobile phones, 10-inch tablets, or desktop PCs will fail, because they offer a terrible user experience. A 7-inch tablet is a sufficiently different form factor that it must be treated as a new platform. Furthermore, these mid-sized tablets are so weak that suboptimal designs — that is, repurposed content — won't work. Optimize for 7-inch or die.
Also did a follow up article: (rebuttal)
Rebuttal to Critics of Kindle Fire Usability Study [useit.com]
Another article: (published Dec 12)
As Kindle Fire Faces Critics, Remedies Are Promised [nytimes.com]
Excerpt 1:
All the individual grievances — recorded on Amazon's own Web site — received a measure of confirmation last week when Jakob Nielsen, a usability expert, denounced the Fire, saying it offered "a disappointingly poor" experience. For users whose fingers are not as slender as toothpicks, he warned, the screen could be particularly frustrating to manipulate.
Excerpt 2:
"In less than two weeks, we're rolling out an over-the-air update to Kindle Fire," said Drew Herdener, a company spokesman.
There will be improvements in performance and multitouch navigation, and customers will have the option of editing the list of items that show what they have recently been doing. No more will wives wonder why their husbands were looking at a dating site when they said they were playing Angry Birds.
Amazon declines to say, but soon — probably in the spring — there will be an improved version of the device itself.
....so looks like spring release on Kindle Fire redesign and Amazon does have the resources to do this.I have been loading free apps and book into cloud whilst debating on a tablet. Was looking at the Lenovo Ideapad A1 today.
Good thing I have nothing to hide
I have been experiencing problems with the browser just closing for no reason lately. I must say though this thing is so handy and I'm loving all the free books.
I had 135 order in 2011.
But 19 days in I'm at 7 orders.
Which frighteningly puts me on pace to get 135 order again in 2012.
Well I am paying $40 for Prime..so gotta take advantage of it.

It's February 20, 2012 (for us West Coasters, 21st for your East Coasters) and I have a whopping 1 order from Amazon ($30). I'm actually kinda amazed and impressed with myself
I even bought this little guy [amazon.com] in order to get FSSS on one order. It was only 40 cents or so at the time. It was fun to play with for a day.
Still at 1 order.
