Got a refund on a product I didnt return. what to do?

401 25 January 11, 2012 at 07:16 AM in Tech & Electronics (2)
Ill keep this short. I purchased a rather expensive product recently. I had some problems with my order but the vendor worked everything out and I have the product installed in my home.

I checked my email this morning and I have an email from them saying that they received my return and are processing a refund. I looked at my credit card statement and the refund has already processed.

I didnt return the product but I got a refund. So basically I got a free product. Im wondering what is the worst thing that could happen with this? Can they come back a month from now and say they've caught the mistake and charge me again? Confused

First thing is to not post about it on a public message board.

Now i get it!

I guess I'm just going to set the money aside in case they circle back on this. In a couple of months I'll consider myself hooked up for free. Its the oddest thing tho, I dont see how something like that could happen.

So, what happens if you have a problem with it and need to return it to the vendor?

And anyway, I think it's a pretty shitty thing to be dishonest.

As much as it pains me...I agree with the stoner. It seems like OP's mind is already made up but is just looking for some reassurance from us delinquents.

You're the one who posted it on a message board, knowing full well that people like me would have something to say about it. I don't really care about your disclaimer, just as much as you don't care about my opinion. It doesn't mean that I'm going to tell you what you want to hear. It's shady to keep such a thing for free.

And if they catch their mistake, they probably could charge you, since you're holding onto something that technically isn't yours. You know, stealing. You could also get banned from the merchant.

Well OP is a douch-a-crit. He asks a moral question asking for opinions and then doesn't want to know our response if we live by a code of um...i don't know....uh morals. And then he espouses to be a fan of team whose head coach travels from church to church throughout the year (even during regular season) espousing his Christian beliefs and giving his testimony which I'm pretty sure involves holding some sort of moral certitude. So that eliminates the possibility of him being a fan of the team for its coaching staff. The only conclusion is that he is a fan of the team for obvious reasons [bleacherreport.com]....all of which seem to involve having a lack of morals.
