Tuesday night I tied the two frame sections together, with 1x4 crossmembers and began the majority of assembly. That took another 2.5 hours. Wednesday night I finished adding the bottom shelf, two top shelves and the back slats.
I customized my version of the bench by adding 2x4 supports for two shelves on top. The top shelf is 20" deep, and the little shelf 12 inches below it is 12" deep. If I had thought more about it, I'd have done lap joints for these, but I simply screwed the support 2x4s to the inside of the rear legs/uprights. This meant the slats were 45" long for these two shelves.
Let me go take a few pictures, and I'll be back to post them in a few minutes.

We danced with strangers and our guy friends/acquaintances watched us like hawks to make sure we're not taken advantage. One got in an argument with the guys dancing too close to us. When we left the club at the end of the night, that one acquaintance who interfered asked me out. I had NO FREAKING idea. Ironically, I actually harbored a tiny crush on this guy since high school. I didn't see him or know him enough in the past to have asked him out. And he had a gf for the longest time, but unbeknownst to me they had broken up.
You could not imagine how ECSTATIC I felt when he asked me!! Yay!!
In other news, I also gave my number to the guy dancing too close to me. Been texting a bit. He hasn't tried to FB me so I searched for him. Turns out he has a freaking little girl (who's cute as hell)! Now I'm going to hint around about kids to torture him. See how long before he tells me. LOL.
But mmmmmmm I'm not even looking forward to the date with HS acq guy. Im more looking forward to the bed.
