Haha! Never mind two months--I don't think he's planning to propose until MAY and I decided on a ring right after Christmas. EEK! I don't care much because I know it's coming, but my ring is PERFECT (seriously, I absolutely love it) and I want to be able to stare at it on my finger! laugh out loud

BF and I visited an estate/antique jeweler while we were looking because I was more interested in the band than the actual diamond. (Originally, we actually wanted moissanite because we're really bothered by the diamond industry in general, but moissanite isn't available at many B&M retailers at all and BF didn't want to buy a ring online.)

It was hard enough for ME to decide on which ring, never mind if he had had to pick it out on his own. Too many choices! The one I chose is a vintage reproduction based on one from England around 1900, so there's tons of filigree and detailing on the band. It was a small shop, so the jeweler was super nice and patient--he took almost 40% off the base price of the ring! I was so glad BF and I went together because it made the whole process so much easier, and he got to help me pick a ring that we both really like.
Yay! I'm glad you love your ring! When I was looking for an engagement ring, I was like you and wanted an antique style with moissanite, it is just impossible to find! Especially since I wanted lots of sparkle in the ring and not just a solitaire, in the end I went for an antique ring from craigslist to avoid the retail diamond industry. A bit risky and a lot of work, but we were careful and turned out very well. (The appraiser we picked was full of so many "omg you are getting such a good deal" sayings that it got kinda awkward to have the seller sitting there hearing how she was selling it at such a loss >__> ) I'm glad you were able to find something you love and got a good price. (you know you have to post a pic of the ring when you get it right? I want to seeee it Stick Out Tongue )

The $10 off $25 applies automatically when you add $25 worth of qualifying products to your cart. For me the discount didn't show up in the cart, but did during checkout. You can get the Facebook coupon here [facebook.com]. It's a mystery offer, so you may get $5 off $30, $10 off $50, or free shipping on $10.

Also if you're ordering from limited add tops around the same price together so the similar price will be free. Also coupons work on the items that are full price. I added a full price top for 32.90 and a 29.99 clearance cardi and used a $15 off mailer.

you know, i am, and i'm not. it's stressing me out that things aren't going as planned, already. i act strangely when i'm stressed - i get the overwhelming urge to just quit everything. laugh out loud but like you said about your wedding day... i need to let go of how i visualized it all, and work with what i have. i am learning that as i type... i'm upset that i don't get any of the MUA/hair ppl that i was originally deciding between, but i should really just go look at what i have to work with and book one. it will be better than being stuck without any!

that is a good idea about printing everything out. i will have to get more organized!
nod Exactly. 'Perfect' is a status only achieved in your mind. I have to tell myself that everyday. I used to shrug off the statement 'As long as two people are married at the end of the day, nothing else matters'. It wasn't until several things went bad that I had no control over that I finally understood what it meant. From vendors, to weather, to people- so unpredictable, you do the best you can and that will be your 'perfect' day :-)

Wow, super organized! I need to take a page from your book!

You seem like the type to take things in stride very well nod I would absolutely cry if it rained on my wedding day. I'm just super worried about the marine layer, but hopefully a south facing beach should be okay..but you never know.

You have so many words of wisdom!
Blush Aww thanks ... but I don't think I am at all! hug . The rain was minor compared to everything else going on at the time- in 2007 my hometown was on fire - I-5 AND I-15 North (Only 2 hwys north to the wedding venue) were closed for a time, alot of our guests had been evacuated from their homes, including the officiant - so we didn't know if they would wait and see if their house burned or come to our wedding. Was lucky with the dress- the place that had it for alterations may have burned down, I'm not sure- I had picked the dress up the week before. Mom lost it 2wks beforehand, told everyone at rehearsal she was "NOT going to be helping me get ready and was NOT going to be in the room" (I'm her only daughter btw). I saw the weather report and knew it was coming about 3 days out, so I felt really lucky that we still got to have the ceremony in the plaza...DH says pictures are better when the sun's not out, but I'd still like to photoshop the ocean where it should be into all of the pictures laugh out loud Luckily there was lots of architecture and palm trees to work with instead. Long story, but yeah- so many things you just can't plan for, just gotta enjoy an incredible time having both extended families and friends together at once - it will likely never happen again. heart

I like your style. I love a spreadsheet and a binder. #organizing
Thanks Smilie Binders for everything! DH wants to go paper-free... scanning and shredding it all, but when the hard drive crashes before it's been backed up, you're SOL bulb I have a binder each for autos, utilities, CC's , dental, other health ins, pet, and of course, VS get's its own binder

Sigh. I actually like a lot of VS's spring/summer stuff... I'm a sucker for crochet and pretty little details. But I just joined Mint.com to have all my budgeting info in one place, and I know it's going to keep me from spending (which is good). Trying to save for a down payment on a house with the BF/soon-to-be fiance. (Picked my engagement ring a couple months ago! Whee)

Come onnn, $500 SRC.
Another bride, congrats!

just tell dbf (since his head is already spinning at the impending cost) that the easiest way to cut costs is to cut # of ppl. Big Grin (it's true!)
awww that blows that your hotel charges you for blocks. i'm lucky that most of the ones in the area for me do courtesy blocks. i think the good thing about the blocks is, your guests are usually all on the same floor/in the same area. but really, it's not that important, and you're totally right - they can probably find better rates elsewhere! it is usually a little cheaper than the going rate for your weekend - my quotes have been 20-50 off the current 'best available rate'. i will probably do blocks at 1 or 2 hotels to let them choose (and since there's no charge to us) but will also let them know which one i plan on staying at, and also that it may be cheaper to book without our rate. but the nice thing about the hotel block is, if your guests book under your code, you can see/manage it, so you can actually view who books and whatnot. kinda neat.
I'm hoping to have 100 people, only! That will help it decrease!

About the hotel blocks, that's kinda stalkerish, hehe! But it looks like it works well for you though, and your guests. Dang, feels like so much $$ being spent on guests.

I literally just signed up for it yesterday, but it seems convenient. I like having everything--savings, checking, loans, car insurance--in one place. I can set detailed budgets for all kinds of categories and they have a "Goal" section, so I chose "Buy a Home." It let us enter our income and preferred down payment and average interest rate to determine how much house we can afford; then it calculated how much we need to put away per month to be able to afford the down payment by Jan. 2013. I haven't set other goals aside from that, but if the other options are equally detailed, it'll wind up being really helpful.

I used to use spreadsheets, but I wound up with quite a few and I'd rather have all the info in one central spot.

On another note, are you engaged?! Or planning on it? How fun! I haven't started looking into much yet in terms of venues or pricing but let's compare notes when the time comes, shall we?
I'm still on the fence about mint.com, but it sounds like a pretty cool tool from what I've read and you seem to like it a lot. I saw one thing that was a challenge was setting up multiple goals is basically not possible. Gonna see what DBF thinks and maybe give it a whirl. I've been looking up spreadsheets as well, a really comprehensive one that includes cost of a house, cost to have children, send children to school, cost of retirement, etc.... Good luck on the house goal!!

And nope, not engaged yet. Probably won't be for another 5 years. I have to hit a couple of milestones first before anything is going to be official with a ring. But since it's a long distance relationship, it's better to figure everything out as soon as possible.

I have all my estimated costs already set up for the wedding, so I'd be more than happy to share. But since I'm out in Los Angeles, the costs are significantly higher and I'm planning for a beach wedding as well. I think the other brides to be will definitely be of more help as well since they're going through it all. Mine will be a couple years later down the road Smilie but yeah, we can definitely compare notes!

That sure is something you pulled through. hug I wouldn't know what I would've done in your situation. I'm thinking I'll probably cry if the marine layer was on the beach, but maybe I'd get lucky.

Through tough times builds character, no? But I can only imagine the stress. They said it's supposed to be the happiest day of your life, seems to be the most stressful day of your life!!

Yeah, I think Pink Nation disabled the online code today. It was there yesterday. If you need one, PM me.
