I hope you got lots of ideas during your visit!!

Sounds delish!! I am dying!! drool I heart Sprinkle's red velvet!! Why no Sprinkles around where I live? Sadwalk
I was reading for the venue that I wanted, $7 to pass around cupcakes versus $4 per slice of cake! they sure know how to capitalize on the cupcake for wedding cake trend! Faint
wow, thats a hefty service fee. Does every wedding venue charge that type of cake fee? I remember being upset when we brought our own cake to a restaurant for a bday and they charged us each $5 service fee to cut it and serve it. wish they'd disclosed it beforehand!

From what I've seen, yes, all venues charge to cut the cake per slice. I've typically seen it at $7 per slice at most venues. I was excited when I saw the $4 per slice. I don't know about other places where it's not at a hotel and you don't have caterers do it. But yeah, for mine, looks like about 70% of the budget is going to feeding the guests shake head

That's really crappy of that restaurant. Which is it? So that I know not to go there, ever, and bring a cake. I went to the Melting Pot in Pasadena and they didn't charge me to keep the cake in the freezer (ice cream cake) and cut it for us, we also shared some with our waitress, she was super awesome.

They're chocolate mint cookies. So yummy because they're chewy instead of crunchy like the girl scout ones. I crave them.

Stonehill tavern at dana point

i think most places dont charge to keep your cake in the fridge. that was the first one that ever did. The service fees cost more than the cake... and on top of that they tacked on the automatic gratuity w/ over 6 guests.

no! that is a question you need to ask beforehand. mine is free! (but i'm bringing in my own caterer - but they don't charge a cake fee - it is included in the cost of the meal)
it will depend on the type of venue and also the venue itself. most hotels and restaurants will probably charge, tho the amt will likely depend on how "fancy" the hotel/restaurant is.

i don't think all venues will charge - but it will depend on the venue. if you're only looking at hotels and restaurants - then you're probably right. they will probably charge.

Fleming's is one I haven't been too yet. I have to try that one. I do like Ruth's Chris for a special night out. In PA we had Sullivan's and Morton's steakhouses, both chains and both really great places too! But so expensive!

So weird isn't it? I hear Bern's is miles away from Shula's. I know they've been featured on many food shows too. I guess Bern's is to Tampa what Joe's Stone Crab is to Miami, an institution you have to try at least once. If we don't go away I may have to talk DH into it. ; ) I have been to The Palm, very nice place.

Our WOB is up the street from USF, you think we'd get better drink specials around here late night but we don't.

Ybor - some ding dong at my DH's job site told him that. I told him every city in Florida is like that. There are places in Orlando, Miami, Lauderdale, even Coral Gables I wouldn't go alone doesn't make the whole area bad. I think I'll have to talk him into it. I'll use the power of my Very Sexy bra for persuasion. :nod :

Maybe the VS warehouse people are hittin' the sauce. ; ) : cheers:

Wesley Chapel. : O Actually DH and I haven't been back to it in months because the chef/line cook can't get his steak temps right. He way under cooks the steaks and drives me bonkers. The one in PA where we lived always had great food. I haven't been to Remingtons, another to put on my list!

I'm more snobby than hubby. He doesn't mind where we go or how bad it is, as long as I'm happy. :heart :

Okay..... so I am out of the loop..... what is Bloom? : O
We haven't been to Joe's Stone Crab in Miami. I'll put that on the list for the next time we're down there.

I think you've got a good chance of making it to Ybor City using the VS bra to your advantage. Teehee Stay away from weekend nights, unless you want a more party atmosphere. There's a lot of restaurants & bars in the area that are very popular on weekends. I still wouldn't say it's unsafe. My DS has been to concerts there on weekends, & my nieces have been to the clubs. None of them ever felt threatened.

Do yourself a favor & don't venture far from the chain restaurants. My DH & I grew up in NC. The popular chains were the nicest restaurants, & we liked them. Emeril's Orlando was our first experience with fine dining many years ago. That was a mistake. We became hooked, & have spent a small fortune on food since then. Our bank account would have been better off, if we'd never ventured beyond chains in the first place. You've been warned. Stick Out Tongue You'll either be spending a fortune on a meal or eating at home like we do. There's very little middle road. We do like a few chains, but not many. For us, that means we eat at home most of the time.

It sounds like you have a sweet hubby too. A good DH is truly priceless.

I see alvs answered your Bloom question, so I won't repeat the info.

Quote from ALVSGIRLY :
I haven't. Do you recommend it?
Dh is a food snob too. I kind of am, but he really is. He's got a fancy expense report though :lol :.
Definitely give Palm a try. I think you'll be happy with your meal.

We could do some serious damage to an expense report. Unfortunately, our bank account has to absorb the damage. EEK!

Quote from Tizzylicious :
Another beauty site, yay! I'll keep my eye out for discounts tho. Hubby is going to go broke with my clothing/beauty obsession. :teehee :

Oh and the Palm is excellent! At least the Miami location I went to years ago. ; )

I love that! I wish I were taller. I'm 5' 3" and I don't like the way they look on me. I feel like they make me look shorter. : P
I'm shorter than you (5' 1 1/2"). Maxi dresses make me look dumpy. They're really cute. I just don't look good in them.

And I know around where anni is, there's this yum cupcake shop!

I just checked my favorite cupcake shop don't don't see one in FL! Here are their locations [sprinkles.com] incase you ever get to visit one of these places. You need to stop in and try some!
We're supposed to go to NYC in Oct. I hope I remember to look for Sprinkles. drool

They got back to me the same day, but I contacted the orders dept. That may make a difference. They didn't offer to send my order via 2 day shipping. I thought they would, since they sent me the wrong items. The email said it would be 5 more days. They are sending a prepaid return label to ship the incorrect items back. I was afraid they'd want me to return those items to the mall. It's a good thing they didn't ask, because I would have told them I wasn't going out of my way to return items I didn't order.

I hope you get your SRC.

I don't think I'd do a cupcake tower thing instead of a wedding cake. : shake:
Sweets :whee2 :

Are those things typically with a low admission to get into? Like a regular convention?
I wouldn't want cupcakes as the wedding cake either. They're really cute for bridal showers & rehearsal dinners. One of my nieces had a wedding cake & cupcake tree. She prefers cupcakes, but wanted a wedding cake for looks. Most adults ate the cake & the kids ate cupcakes. Another niece had a wedding cake & a variety of cheesecakes. She doesn't like cake or cupcakes. Dontknow

I think I'd find a friend or family member to server the cake. laugh out loud That's ridiculous! If my DS marries someone from Cali, I'll be glad I'm not footing the bill for the wedding. The rehearsal dinner would be bad enough. EEK!

I've never been charged extra on a cake I carried in either. We always add to the gratuity. Normally, they'll charge an automatic gratuity, if the venue makes the cake. Someone at MP must have really liked you. I'm surprised they put the cake in their freezer. Most places won't keep a cake in the kitchen, if they didn't make it. It's a cross-contamination issue. Regardless, wolfie was ripped off. shake head

I got all excited for a second thinking PB had gourmet cupcakes now. Teehee I like getting their pastries, when I prepare a special brunch for my guys. I love chocolate croissants. We mostly have their pastries on holidays. I could eat them daily, but that would defeat a year's worth of watching what I eat. Diets stink! Yucky

That's crazy! I wouldn't have been happy either. From your & Azn's posts, it sounds like it's common for restaurants in Cali to take a guest delivered cake into the kitchen. Maybe, it's a FL law/rule that prevents our restaurants from doing that. Dontknow

I always reply to order confirmation emails. Mine get responses 100% of the time. 1st email saying they got the email & will respond within 24hours, 2nd email is the response. Speaking of which, I was missing 2 SRCs in my orders too...

I don't know how I missed this, but the code BIRTHDAY on folica gives you a free sedu dryer and flat iron with $75 purchase. I actually bought this in a set when I thought we were going to get the rebate. I paid more than $75 for them! They're great travel products and definitely something to consider.

Usually, I'm pretty on top of folica, but this one totally slipped by me. It's a good one. If I didn't already have the products, I would bite.
