I totally missed this until anni quoted it. I have to agree with what she said. I really liked Naked better than Naked 2. I really like the packaging for Naked and it really displayed the
shadows a lot better.

are you more warm or cool toned, or do you like warmer or cooler eyeshadows? simply put, naked 1 is warmer while naked 2 is cooler.

that said, they are both pretty - i think the majority of people were unimpressed by naked 2, but i honestly think that may be because they already had naked 1. it would take a phenomenal group of eyeshadows to make the 2nd as good as the 1st. naked 2 didn't do that, especially since it included 1 dupe (silly UD).

i just bought naked 2 and am still debating if i should keep it. i've had naked 1 for a year and a half, and i honestly don't use it that much, bc it's out of reach so i forget i have it. i love that naked 2 has a matte black (soooo crucial in creating a smokey eye) but naked 1 has some really nice colors that pair well. naked 1 is overall more shimmery than naked 2 (but both have matte and shimmer shades).

I think he's just trying to be the good older brother : ) Aren't his sisters lucky...money falling from the sky :rolleyes :

True for us Indians too :nod : Our parents pay for school (100%)and we take care of them : ) when they are not able to do things on their own in their old age. We also help them financially when needed or if we want to do so by our choice. My parents never expect anything but DH's do :greedy : so we often provide them $$$

My older brother has helped me out plenty! :lol :

He never had to work through school. I think he got his undergrad paid off by my parents, and they're helping him with grad school, but I had to work through school and I had to pay off my partial undergrad and any money I had mostly went to supporting myself through college. So in this family, as in most Asian families, there is a basis towards boys in the family. :mad : And of course, I'm not going to get any help with grad school because what I'm going for doesn't have "Doctor" indicated in the title anywhere.

I'm from a Chinese household too. My parents did pay for both my undergrad as well as my older bro's degree. We weren't required to work during school, but we each had random part-time jobs here and there...especially during the summer lulls. However, I did take a full year off during college to work FT, so by the end of undergrad, I was able to contribute to my car payments and loans. Happy to say that my loans are all paid off right now. I don't ever want to accrue so much debt again!

My mom is more progressive than my dad. Where she is very supportive of what I want to do career/education-wise...my dad has literally said to me (when I told him that I was going to pursue another degree) "what's the point? you're a girl, what do you need all that learning for?" There is no point trying to reason with him either. :headb ang:



It's nice to be able to have a good time in college...but I think it can get out of hand very quickly. I admittedly spent my first year of college just messing around and partying all the time. :sh ake:
Everyone is different though and some college freshmen are incredibly mature and focused by the time they get there. For others, it takes a while to find their footing. When I went back to school the second time, I actually found myself wanting to achieve that 4.0 every semester. :glass es2: Live and learn! : )

Heck yeah! One of them is graduating May. I hope he will cut her allowance once she starts working!!! As for his other sisters, they go through boyfriends like it's dirty laundry..so yep...

Your dad sounds like mine, though he is not that bad, but incredibly stubborn. He still feels like women belong in the kitchen. He just tells me to marry rich too and that I don't need my masters because I can't get in anyway. WTF!!!

I agree it's nice to enjoy college, I wish I did more instead of working/trying to make it with starting my career off, etc...I think I just needed a break and never gave myself one until now.

Exactly, even though I don't want kids and he does, but that's another discussion in itself. Might sound selfish but I just want to go in and see where it is that's taking him forever to pay off his school loans. But for real, I agree with needing to be open about finances. It's just such a touchy subject with him and he gets defensive. Le sigh.

I hope that isn't a bad sign with him getting defensive. Sounds like he's kind of stuck in that bachelor mindset. He needs to shake that off.

I like where I live, but eventually, I'd want to move to Orange County, so housing is pretty high there too. It's doable!! But it really will take a re-doing of how he and I will look at our money.


That's probably what it is. He's been living on his own for so long and never had a second person to think about and it's probably a shock to him about the future. He probably figured he'd stay in Seattle forever and live in an apartment forever.

I know the money situation bothers you, but it sounds like he has a big heart. A man like that will treat you right. When you all get married & have to make it on your own, he'll be forced to change his spending habits. Sometimes, men just need longer to grow up. When it comes down to it, you need money to survive, but some things are more important than money.

wow, you and azn's dads make me appreciate mine more. i am totally daddy's little girl - he loves that i got his brain and my mom's looks :coverl af: best of both worlds! he has always encouraged me to study and learn. i think my parents are still secretly disappointed i stopped after a masters.
and i agree - leaving school and then going back makes you appreciate it more. i definitely tried a lot harder in my masters. i wasted a lot of my undergrad. sad - there was so much great learning potential there. oh well!

it's hard to not be defensive bc it is totally a touchy subject. dbf and i are working to consolidate our finances now, and while we are more or less on the same page, he has a lot more saved up bc he makes more and has been working for twice as long as me. for some reason i'm still scared when he peeks over at my banking. i've saved a considerable amount now, but it's nowhere near his. so i'm embarrassed by it.

Dudes, OPI minis are tiny, why are they so tiny!? I got the OPI New york city ballet mini set and they are sooooo much smaller than the mini set that I got from China Glaze, each bottle has only 1/3 the amount of nail polish as in the china glaze ones. Pshhhh. The OPI set was about 4 bucks cheaper but I'd rather pay $4 more and have enough to paint all my nails.
