I imagine it'd be the raised seam type. I'm not sure how much it costs beyond composition shingles.

I can't wait until I can afford a metal roof. My last house had slate shingles that were 90 years old. They held up just fine, but the flashing and things were way past their expiration date. Maintenance on that roof was way too expensive. Maintenance on metal roofs is much less costly and isn't required nearly as often. Plus you have far fewer points of entry where water could get in.

Most people have a ceiling between the floor and the roof. Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)

But it does have a different and distinct sound to it. We have tin area in out master bedroom that is intentionally exposed to a portion of the roof that is metal, and the sound of the rain hitting it puts me out like a light.

Some people like the sounds they make. I guess it's something you get used to.

Most of the time when it rains, I open the windows, so I'm already hearing it from that perspective.

My parents have a metal roof. I don't like walking on it. It is very slippery and I don't have any shoes with traction. Last time I went up there, I went up barefoot.
