A couple of interesting news stories about F1...

Quote :
Formula One will chalk up a notable first if Lewis Hamilton finishes first in Sunday's Monaco Grand Prix.

Never before has the glamour sport seen six different winners in the first six races of a season and McLaren's 2008 world champion has yet to open his 2012 victory account going into his favorite race.

Hamilton, winner in the Mediterranean principality in his title year, has every chance of standing on the top step of the podium as well as chalking up McLaren's 150th pole after being denied it in Barcelona due to a fuel error.

British bookmakers William Hill have the 27-year-old Briton as their 3-1 favorite, with double world champions Sebastian Vettel and Fernando Alonso both at 5-1 for Red Bull and Ferrari respectively.

Formula One owner cuts stake in $1.6 billion deal

Three investment groups have bought a 21 percent stake in Formula One from private equity firm CVC Capital CVC.UL for $1.6 billion ahead of the motor racing company's planned flotation in Singapore.

The deal sets a benchmark valuation of at least $7.6 billion for the company as financial advisers begin to target cornerstone and retail investors during the pre-marketing process of the IPO. The shares are expected to debut in June.

Hmmm, this should be interesting, wonder how it will effect the Monaco race?

SUPERSOFT TYRES MAKE THEIR 2012 DEBUT IN MONACO

Milan, May 21, 2012 โ€“ The softest compound in Pirelli's Formula One range โ€“ the P Zero Red supersoft โ€“ makes its first appearance of the year at the famed Monaco Grand Prix circuit: the slowest, tightest but also most prestigious race of the season. Alongside it, the P Zero Yellow soft has also been nominated.

With the street circuit relying almost exclusively on mechanical grip, it is ideal territory for the supersoft โ€“ which benefits from a rapid warm-up time and is capable of generating very high levels of traction and cornering forces. This is particularly important during qualifying: with so few opportunities to overtake in Monaco, being as far up the grid as possible is even more important than usual. For the same reason, race strategy has a profound effect. It is often easier to make up positions in the pits through an effective strategy rather than by passing on the track. Tyre wear and degradation is the lowest seen all season, making a one-stop strategy a distinct possibility for some teams. As Monaco is a street circuit, there is a high degree of track evolution over the course of the race weekend, which lasts for one day longer than anywhere else as free practice takes place on Thursday with the circuit is open to normal traffic again for much of Friday. This consequently affects the amount of rubber that is found on the surface for qualifying.

OH come on that story is so Pro Shamilton.. If Kimi, Schumi, Webber or Massa wins, it'll also have the same effect. Kimi and Schumi have both won there before just like empty fuel tank Crashilton.

As for the stock of F1 on the Singapore SGX.. I don't trust bernie so i wouldn't even dream of touching it.

I think Kimi will have a good chance of the win with the Lotus being good on tyres as well as having a decent mechanical grip. The williams also have a good chance at a good showing since they had good pace on mechanical grip. The bump after the tunnel has been worked on so hopefully we'll see more passing there.
Hope the Ferrari work well on the super softs and bring Alonso another win.

Announcement, the parking lot at Rascasse has been eliminated Michael, do not park there or pull any such stunt again. laugh out loud

I think the reason they mentioned Hamilton the most is because he's the bookmakers favorite for Monaco. He also happens to be my favorite driver...don't piss me off, I'll go Piccboo on you. Annoyed laugh out loud

I'm sure Schumi was very hot headed as a young driver too, heck as an older driver Schumi pulled that bone headed stunt of parking on a corner to slow down the drivers behind him. Hamilton isn't the first nor the last driver who will make mistakes but he is really good when he keeps his head on straight.

Looks like they will be on /Super soft and soft this weekend and next for canada. Maybe since the Merc have such good mechanical grip old Schumi might have a chance at the podium.

I'm rooting for Kimi to have a good race but who know if he'll be up for it with all the drinking/partying in the marina.
Looks like the Mercedes mechanical grip helped with the qualifying. Schumi fastest and Rosberg in the top 3. I wonder how well they'll all get the first corner.

Yeah but Shcumi will be back five places so he's not likely to win, not at Monaco. Should be an interesting race though, regardless of the outcome.

The Circuit of the Americas said Tuesday that prices would range from $159-$499, with the highest prices for three-day, reserved grandstand tickets. The cheapest tickets allow access to grassy areas located around the track.

As much as everyone was complaining about projects prices before, I think those are actually in line with what other tracks are charging, really

Yeah those prices are reasonable.. Texas looks like a real good place to go for an F1 race now after I've been watching all those food shows on Texas BBQ. Sorry Indy-a-no-place.. you are boring as you are flat outside the track.

one of these days I will work up the patience to stand in line for Franklin's. not yet, though shake head about the only way to get a short line is to go on a day like Ash Wednesday where all the Christians are avoiding meat laugh out loud

short drive being relative, of course. it's far enough away that I don't go there regularly, but that's probably a good thing at the end of the day laugh out loud it is my favorite, I finally went to county line, but I was not impressed shake head
