The track looks great on sim racing. http://youtu.be/IWa2ZSZcUq8
With good music, indie scene vibe and great food, this has to attract lots of new F1 fans to the race.
Austin is starting to really gear up for the race. They are in talks to add a 25,000 sqft temporary international arrivals terminal at the airport - to handle the 2,400 drivers teams and officials with their 747s, and between 6 and 15 747s chartered from elsewhere with fans. They already have plans for two festivals downtown over the race weekend.
This is when and how Austin goes from being a funky little town known for music to a true international desitnation. we can't have the new surge of hotel building catch up quickly enough, IMO. (no fewer than two hotels for 900+ rooms each are on tap, plus at least five other properties, only one of which is already under construction now)
The 33-year-old had just taken over from Sebastien Buemi at the wheel of Toyota's TS030 Hybrid entry when his car made contact with the LMPGTE Ferrari, driven by Italy's Piergiuseppe Perazzini, on entry to the corner at the end of the Mulsanne straight.
The former F1 driver suffered breaks to his T11 and T12 vertebrae - injuries which are expected to heal in "approximately three months".

Italian news agency ANSA reported their Peugeot 207 crashed into a security barrier, hitting Roberts in the passenger seat and emergency services were unable to save him.

(is it bad that I forgot Le Mans was this weekend?)

Saw the 458 turning without looking into the mirrors. He's got to be more aware of the faster class cars coming long. Hope Ant is going to recover soon. He's a great commentator on the bbc and seems like a nice dude.
Speaking of crashes.. I hope Kubica comes back to F1 next year. The Ferrari team sure need him if he's back to full health.
we've got two seats, between turns 9 and 10, row 35. should be good stuff, we should get a view of turns coming through the hilly, high speed section, down from us to the far hairpin, and hopefully some views across the track as cars accelerate on the longest straight on the track out of the hairpin
Who is your fav person? Schmey or Narain?
Bernie Ecclestone's position as chief executive of Formula One came under renewed scrutiny after the German banker he has been accused of paying £28million in bribes sensationally admitted his guilt.

I didn't check Tivo last night, I should have but forgot the race was on Fox this week. It didn't tape because the title didn't include Formula One in it, Fox in their infinite wisdom decided to simply title it the European Grand Prix. We missed the first 19 laps!
