Meant to say on the previous reply, Sky Sports is nothing to do with the BBC, it's own by Rupert Murdock. Smilie
Yes I didn't put the BBC / Sky sports but I do know they are two different channels and who owns the Sky sports (Rupert the phone hacking family Murdoch). It seems they see considerable amount of shit coming down their path as now they are trying to split up their news corp into 2 separate companies. In case the shit really hits the fan in UK, kinda like they did with the NOTW or whatever that tabloid was called, they can just bankrupt it and move on with the other company. SHADY ppl, the red head girl, James, Cameron's Press guy, and even to past editors like Pierce Morgan. Bunch of liars they are.

wave Welcome to the F1 thread, good to have a new person. Smilie

Do you have a favorite driver or team?
Thanks!

I have for a long time been fond of saying I only support winners and that's why I like McLaren but since they're not at the top of the heap I guess I can't say that. They're still my favorite and will remain so especially as this fact irritates my mom.

As far as drivers go I can't dislike any of them. My mom was excited that there was finally a Polish driver(my mom and I were both born in Poland) but who knows what will happen to Kubica now.

Yeah, it drives DH crazy that I back Hamilton instead of Ferrari. Evillaugh

Kubica had another surgery at the end of May to try to improve mobility in his elbow. Haven't heard anything else about his chances since then. Dontknow

One branch of my family originally came from Silesia, which is now (mostly) part of Poland. Maybe I should be backing Kubica too?

Nah. That would be a silly reason. I don't think he's my mom's fave and she liked F1 before he was born but was just glad a countryman finally made it in. I have a feeling she secretly likes Ferrari right now.

I think one of the best reasons to back a team is to irritate someone close to you. For me it's not the actual reason but a happy byproduct.

I prefer to cheer for the little guy. which is exactly why I started following Kubica back with BMW. the co-worker who got me into F1 is a big Ferrari guy, so it was also convenient to go against the Ferrari fan boy grain. The Alonso debacle with McLaren really turned me against McLaren, plus the other issues with that team. I refuse to follow marketing for marketing's sake, so I can't cheer for Red Bull laugh out loud I do like Mark Webber, though, and I certainly have nothing against Vettel. This year I've sorted defaulted to Lotus, even without Kubica, although perhaps I should start cheering for Perez to fit in at the USGP in November, I'm betting the Mexican contingent will be huge nod

A Formula 1 test driver who suffered life-threatening injuries in a crash during testing in Cambridgeshire has regained consciousness.

BBC Cambridgeshire presenter Chris Mann, who witnessed the crash, said the car was slowing down when it "suddenly accelerated" into the back of the lorry.

"The top of her car and her helmet seemed to take the brunt of it," he added.

  • A former World Touring Car Championship and Superleague Formula driver, she is the daughter of ex-Formula 1 racer Emilio de Villota
  • Her first taste of F1 came at Paul Ricard in 2011, when she tested a Renault R29
  • Since 2001, she has competed in various Spanish motor races
  • In 2010 she finished fourth at the Nurburgring in Superleague Formula
  • She holds a degree in sports science from the European University of Madrid

Stupid question but do test drivers like this have to have a super license like the actual drivers? I'm assuming not.

A lorry is a truck or tractor trailer.

You shouldn't make fun of lorry just because she is a little heavy. Mad
