Petrol hit a new record high today in the UK of 140 pence per liter. Worked out to gallons and dollars, that's $8.41 per gallon. Faint

Exactly. But the podium is way more harsh, IMO. Everyone knows how to get around that with the backhanded compliments and the cleverly cloaked insults.

You can practically tear someone's guts out without violating any rules if you know what you're doing.

I don't know how you can "push" for population reduction, unless you mean a China style One Child policy. Good luck getting countries to sign up for that. Most of the developed world actually has a reproduction rate below 2, the big problem is in the developing world in places like India and Africa. That's where the population is exploding. I don't know what you think someone like me can do about that though. I don't plan on having more than 2 kids. That's about all I can do personally, as far as I know.

Not a bad alternative. Eventually.

But for now who is going to buy them? There aren't many places to fill up the tank with CNG. And the tank has to be huge to get any reasonable distance out of a fillup. And a large tank of compressed natural gas adds a whole new level of danger to driving. It works reasonably well for larger vehicles but it still has limitations for passenger cars.

There are some concerns about whether or not the natural gas buses are more dangerous when there is a wreck or an engine fire. Last I'd heard was they are reviewing the safety aspect of CNG buses and other vehicles.

Personally, I'm a bit leery of using gas for vehicles or in the house. A good friend of mine died when his house exploded due to a gas leak. He didn't go quickly either, it took him a couple of days to succumb to his burns. He was too badly burned to survive the blast, all the doctors could do was try to minimize his pain. Not a pleasant way to go.
