Yes, that is literally what you said. You only see name brand, and you don't see any name brand sub-$3. laugh out loud

I am not trying to troll your cereal preference though, as it seems that is how you are taking it...just putting that out there for the record!

What you don't know is that I went and lived on the reservation for a couple of years when I was growing up....part my choice cause I wanted to see what it was like and part my parents choice to let me see how hard people had it and to straighten me out in some ways. Holy sh!t. Talk about poor! The worst part is how badly managed the BIA really is. Badly managed and crooked as hell, just like in the 1800's. I came back with my eyes opened, ready to 'work hard' at school like never before (to say that was 'work' after how hard I worked on the rez is a joke really) and apply myself, look for and reach my potential in everything I did and be a success. Yeah, I may not be poor and am far from it but I also didn't take any government handouts that I qualify for because I didn't want them and didn't think I needed them. It would have also just reduced me to another statistic of needing government money to succeed as an AI, and I wasn't about to let myself be labeled like that. But I've lived as the poorest of the poor, really dirt poor down to the actual dirt on the floor. I know what poor is and what it's like to live that way. No one needs to tell me what being poor is or what it's like. I have lived it.

Sorry, but your whole post just shows you are completely removed from the situation and wouldn't ever really understand the depression our grandparents had to go through. The very fact that you qualified your price of cereal by mentioning name brand was enough. You think if I am in a position to have to sway yes/no over a $2 box of cereal that I am going to be buying ANYTHING based on brand? Return the 3 bags of Lays chips for Jays and there you go, you can get your $2 box of corn flakes.

The dude from Batman?

Thanks, sounds like I missed a good conversation I might even have to take him off ignore just to read the comments! Bwhahahahah

I read what 808 quoted and responded to. Are you meaning there was something going on between them before (outside) that post and what 808 said? If so then I didn't get all that.
He wasn't even talking about people on welfare, so I have no idea why you were going off about that. Dontknow

Your reply seemed like you didn't read his post. laugh out loud

Well in first place I don't see any boxes of (name brand) cereal for $2! laugh out loud Those 11 - 14 oz. boxes of Kellog's Whateverlooksgoodandcrap cereal are going for around $3 or $4 a box....and more. But I usually shop at Smith's (our Kroger here...like King Soopers for you). Might be less at Walmart but then I still have to go to Smith's for produce, so it's easier to just shop for all my food at Smith's.

To your question though.....does anyone you know really take 'only' the 'can I afford it' question into account because they really don't have the money to buy a $2 box of cereal and pay the light bill? I don't think so. I bet it's more like I look at some things, like 'do I want to pay that kind of price for that? Maybe I want to put those dollars more towards X' Or sometimes I use the reward system with myself. I like to eat healthy so I'll tell myself....'if I don't buy that then I can put that $2 towards those cowboy boots or X because I'm sticking with my healthy plan.' Maybe I see it differently but then I'm a different person, so that should be expected.
Well, I consider General Mills to be a "name brand" cereal and they were just on sale at Walgreen's last week for $1.99. That included all varieties of Cheerios, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Golden Grahams, etc. So maybe you're shopping at the wrong stores? laugh out loud You can get them close to free (or sometimes even better) if you use coupons and register rewards.

Also, SD very often has deals on the front page through Amazon for boxes of cereal that usually come out to less than two bucks a box. (Paying anymore than that is a rip-off, IMO.)

So yeah, I agree with 808lurker that if you have to sit there and think about a $2 box of cereal because it's going to affect your budget that much, you're very likely not paying much, if any (I'd wager any), taxes.

In other words, he was saying OP really shouldn't be spouting off about people on welfare because he's not contributing anyway.

But OP's a troll, as are all of his threads, so he's going to regardless.

Anyone try this new cereal with chocolate inside? I forget the name but it's rectangular with chocolaty inside. I think it's from kellogs, tastes pretty good.

OMG... you make the vomit face at Cap'n Crunch but you eat that stuff?! LMAO LMAO

I did taste it, though. My BIL bought a box, and told my kid he could have some, and I kept getting the "mommy, you have to try this, it's so good!" I didn't like it... Tomato

It had a weird aftertaste.

Oh yes....the THINK OF THE CHILDREN! liberal knee-jerk response. Never waking up or wanting to acknowledge that many of those on welfare are having the children for the welfare benefits it brings.....including having anchor babies.
This isn't like 95% of the cases of hysterical parental worrying; this is for real, and maybe if more welfare recipients went to a personal physician regularly instead of to free clinics or emergency rooms, they'd use contraception more and not have so many unplanned children. More commonly, poor working people would be able to raise their families better, and even those of us who can afford health insurance would get a break because every developed country with universal care spends a lot less than 16-17% of GDP on it.

Your belief that people have children for the welfare benefits is false. They have children because they didn't use contraception, can't get abortions, or they want a child because they think a c hild will bring them happiness and love (like a pet dog) or will get their boyfriend to stay with them. As for foreigners having anchor babies here, it happens but not nearly as much as you fearmongers think.
