RETIRED Marlboro Outwit the West Funny Farm

228 92 October 16, 2010 at 01:35 PM
Hi all,

I started this thread for anyone who wants to come here for lite discussion, jokes, and just general discussion and fun.

Everyone is welcome!

I was thinking that maybe it would be helpful to keep the original thread to a bit more of a serious discussion of the clues and answers.

This would make the original thread more useful to those seeking serious information and clues without having to read through hundreds of extraneous messages.

So, I hope it catches on !

So pop a beer and pull up a chair and relax !

hard to get up there
depending on how old they install differently

if you know the manufacturer
call them they always have an answer they want you to buy from them again

Moen told me a way to get the insides out of my faucet with a dowl rod and a screw
when tools wouldn't work
When all else fails I use a spark plug puller!!! Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)

OK, Just found this, maybe what I would have needed......you guys got me on the right track....

Product Description
The Rigid faucet and sink installer is designed to reach and turn plastic mounting nuts on faucets, sprayers, and ballcocks. It removes mounting components, turns shut off valves. The tool also features an aluminum insert for holding strainer baskets in place. It fits over existing supply lines. Its extra long construction makes it ideal for hard to reach applications.

Thanks much Gary, I found them too, gonna take me a bit to get them downloaded.

The t handle isn't shown on my instruction paper at all...but I'm sure you're right, there's a reason they gave it to me.
Appreciate your help.....you too Sprok!!

Ok, the faucet came with the gadget in the picture....tried to figure out if it was for getting that black plastic "mounting nut" off there, but just couldn't figure it out......

Any ideas what this gadget was for? Might have come in handy if I knew what it was for in the 1st place.....
veas.. Jim said to look up in the nozzle and see if it looks like that tool would be used to remove the screen...??? he said the screen should be removed before ya run the faucet so all the shit doesnt get trapped in it..

Toy ! I wouldn't buy it. Too short to reach most basin nuts, and no leverage. It has an open slot down one side to fit over supply lines.... that only works if the supply lines are perfectly straight.... if not your back to using a basin wrench. Look for a good quality basin wrench if you want to buy. The first one I bought was cast... snapped 1/2 the jaw off the 2nd time I used it. Got another, forged steel... still have it today 25 yrs later. Here's a tip.... use Vasoline on all threaded parts when installing a new faucet (except those that require teflon tape). Makes it much easier to take apart in the future

That tool's a bit too big for that. That aerator just unscrews, no tool needed, maybe pliers if it's been there since the begining of time

Just an FYI. that faucet uses standard Delta innards. Cartridges, springs and seats. Quick, easy and inexpensive to fix when it decides to drip

Thanks much Ang...and Jim! I did take off the aerator and run water for a bit.....actually read some instructions this time.....didn't need a tool??? I'll check the tool next time I go over. Maybe once the faucet is older/crudier the tool is used?

I'm home now.....we did this at daughter's yesterday......we got the faucet off.....

We had sprayed, wiggled, etc...got one side undone....couldn't get the other....but we got a little gap....

When all else fails, drag out the sawzall.
