RETIRED Marlboro Outwit the West Funny Farm

228 92 October 16, 2010 at 01:35 PM
Hi all,

I started this thread for anyone who wants to come here for lite discussion, jokes, and just general discussion and fun.

Everyone is welcome!

I was thinking that maybe it would be helpful to keep the original thread to a bit more of a serious discussion of the clues and answers.

This would make the original thread more useful to those seeking serious information and clues without having to read through hundreds of extraneous messages.

So, I hope it catches on !

So pop a beer and pull up a chair and relax !

cwhetme and bornblondeey, I've been "gardening" more this year too. The difference is that I only have 15' x 30' in the back to "play" with because I live in a condo. I extended the flower bed on the one side to reach the clematis vine on the other. Originally because my Uncle gave me an azalea for Easter and I decided to put it in the back. The beds are edged in stone, so I still need to buy a few more to finish the 2nd row (thought it was better to have at least one row to enclose the bed.) Instead of planting my tomato/cucumbers in with the flowers, I put them in the new area with some sweet peppers. Someone suggested putting the cucumbers up a trellis, so I'll try that with one and see how well that works. The others can stay on the ground.
I envy you both for having more yard, but at the same time, I'm glad I don't have the work.

Good Luck to all!

You're allowed to win one prize in each catagory, I won the movie tickets a while ago-they have to be printed by Sept 30 and are good through 12/31/2012. I'm not certain if they have to be used on Battleship-they are Hollywood Movie money. The other prizes are a K'nex Battleship and a $5 coupon for any Nabisco product.

3 years ago, I bought one strawberry plant (with 3 in the single tub-have to slickdeal here). I always try to buy plants with multiples, then I soak them in a bucket and gently pull them apart. I put one in each of the 3 flower beds. This year, I have more than 20 plants and have had strawberries for breakfast for the last 4 days!!
I put a section of temp chainlink fence in my veggie garden (years ago) for the cukes to climb on. Works well ! They don't really take up any space that waynod

Cucumbers do better on a trellis because the get more sun and less dirt on the cukes. They are natural climbers and the leaves grow thick enough to double as a living screen to block the neighbors from peeping. I always buy plants with more than one in it! Sister laughs at me cause I have to "tickle" the roots apart but it Saves money. Always buy the pregnant fish too! That way you buy one and in a few days you have alot!!! Big Grin

Great picking those fresh strawberries, isn't it!
I made myself several 4x4 beds . mostly have herbs, 2 are strawberries.
Trying out the beans towers this year, sure would be space saver if they work well. Hadn't been outside today, went out to take this pic and I see the chipmunk has started eating on the strawberries, and something has dug up a big area near the bean tower.....dang it

Wow I just got a letter and $10.00 Walmart GC from the American Cancer Society.
Says: Congratulations on completing you cancer screening! You have taken an important step towards finding cancer early. Please except this gift card from us as a thank you for making this important lifesaving step.

That makes having the Mammogram a little easier each year if they are going to send me a GC. LOL
